All the numbers and times matter to me!

Really? Why? 0-60 is useless. If I want to know how hard a car jumps out there, the 60 foot time is what I want to know. If I want to know how much power it has (relative to its weight) the best information is its trap speed. And if I want to know how well it's set up, the ET is where it's at.

Note: I said "car" above. All of that is relevant to a street car.

But it's really pretty silly to talk 0-60 for what's essentially a peg leg truck with a serious wheel hop problem. I really think a lot of the Raptor newbies don't know what they are getting themselves into. I don't like using my locker on the street for obvious reasons. I also don't like using my 4WD on the street for obvious reasons. So even with my $3500 traction bars, I don't usually get on it hard from a dead stop.

As for punching it from a roll, the son of a bitch will roast my heavy Toyos (well, at least one of them, the locker won't engage after 30 even if I wanted it to) from 60 miles per hour. And that's with my 6.2 liter dinosaur. Imagine what it's going to be like with these 3.5s that I hear are going to be making 700RWHP with just a tune.

I was trying to being a little funny and more or less speaking of numbers for sorts cars. 0-60 has been the industry standard measure for performance. You can argue that the 1/4 mile is a better measure or even the for super cars measured mile or the Nurburgring ring.

As for the Raptor new or old 0-60 is a good measure for daily driving the better it is the better the truck is in daily driving and off road after all who wants a slow vehicle.

It's all personal preference.

I had no idea. That is crazy stuff right there.

Aren't they cool!

2 things though, 1 those are race cars and 2 what are they geared or designed for. A rally car is setup to for to dart from dirt corner to dirt corner, a sports car or supercar are meant to be quick all across the powerband. The two are not really comparable.

At the time the street homoligation and race rally cars of group B were as quick as any super car of the day. Maybe not top speed. The Ferrari 288 GTO was first intended for group b rally and track racing but when FIA need group it became a super car.

My post was more of a repose to a gravel perfomance comment and to broaden the knowledge and interest of others.

Resume the banter.

Exactly my point really, they were purpose built race cars that were geared to accelerate hence the lack of top speed, gear them similarly and they wouldn't be near as quick and would perform worse across the spectrum. The supercar on the other hand is purpose built as well, but it has supercar luxuries and performs to different functions.

You guys do know what WRC does for a living, right?

You are funny! I do love the differing opinions. I just need to win the lotto so I can buy all these cars and have the first hand knowledge.

I do love big power in vehicles but drivability and reliability are the most important for daily driving. I would love a flat plane crank twin turbo engine in a Raptor and who knows it might actually be a good daily driver

I am lucky enough to market, drive most new cars for various manufactures not much with Ford for a while. Sometimes in a parking lot or on the street and sometimes on the track. That does not make me the end all authority on cars and I respect most people's opinions unless they are clearly an ass.

Back on topic: I wish Ford would make a 5.0 flat plane crank twin turbo Mustang.

As for a Raptor I would like a V8 and I feel that 500hp is more the enough in the Raptor. The V6 TT will be a nice engine with lots of potential and who knows maybe I will buy one. For now my Gen 1 is still a great truck!

I don't understand the turbo motor hate. Boosted motors can be a helluva a lot of fun. Bigger injectors, exhaust, alcohol injection, E85 tunes, Turbo swaps, external wastegates, etc.. with an open intake the Whiirrrrrrrrrrrrrrr of the spool will sound great.
