Except I don't have a power wagon, I've got a gen 1 that's pretty heavily modified and would dust a gen 2 off-road easily. And the fact that I won't see it for long sounds like more of a pro than a con.

Best case scenario is an updated 6.2 or something else natty. Twin turbo V8 will not be viable cost wise for the majority of raptor buyers. supercharged v8 would be kinda cool but you gotta keep in mind this things designed to be used hard off-road.

I'm pretty sure EB 5.0 is on it's way. If not next year then for sure for 2018.

For anyone who wants an eye opener you should go test drive an F150 with the 2.7 EB. It's a rocket off the line and gets 27mpg highway not towing. It can tow up hills too. Great little engine. It's the fastest 0-60 of all the setups Ford currently has in the F150.

I still don't see the big issue with using a V6 that is faster and has more torque than a V8. I'll guarantee you will see over 500 HP in these 3.5 EB Raptors by next summer. That's plenty of power for 99%. They will get 15-16mpg on average and probably push 20mpg highway. That is a huge improvement over the 10mpg of the 6.2L. That means with a 36 Gallon tank I can go over 300 miles farther on a tank. That will be really important in racing or cutting across deserted areas.

The new Ford GT will have the same 3.5 EB engine and will be pumping out between 600-700 HP this fall. They will be shooting for 0-60 in sub 4 sec with an all carbon body. That is insane.

You are smoking crack

It will not have over 500hp

It will not get 15-16 mpg average, definitely not 20mpg. 35's with 4.10s and 450hp do not equal good gas mileage. The regular 3.5 EBs with those mods aren't getting that so why would this high output 3.5 get any better?

This is the same engine as the GT?!?!! Really?? I should just buy the Raptor and save myself $400,000 then!!!

I get 12-25 mpg with my 6.2 using e-30 :win:

My 14' Screw got 13-15mpg highway depending on how much of a hurry I was in. For what the truck was I had no complaints. I'm sure the new V6 will have tons of power and will probably at least return a few more miles per gallon over the 1st generation but seeing how the existence of the twin turbo V8 in Ford's arsenal has been spotted I think I'll wait a bit before ordering one. Just imagine a twin turbo 5.2L in the new Raptor. THAT is what I am hoping is on the way.

First let me say I Love a Big Ass motor with power and sound, that is why I have a Gen 1, and have ZERO interest in a Gen 2. I do like reading these threads tho. Nothing against you folks who are gonna get a Gen 2, but this thread is confusing, here's why:
Ya'll start out talking about how great the v6tt is gonna be, more power, more mpg, more torque, faster, etc. on and on. But it only takes a few post till ya'll are off on I wish it had a option of, or imagine if it had, or I hope/heard 20 something will have. Then back to how great the v6tt is. If the somebitch is so badass, why do you want something else? I don't see folks with a Gen 1 dog 6.2L ( what I have) saying all that. They are happy with their motor. Look at all the polls of what if on the motor in a Gen 2.
So which is it? A bad ass new Raptor and change nothing? Or a Raptor with a weak ass motor? Pick one and run with it, just sayin

All of that sounded good until you said sub 4 second 0-60. That's terrible!! Porsche 911 turbo S is in the 2.8 sec range and is half the price.

That being said the GT will be something sweet and I will be one that will probably end up ordering a new raptor even after reading all of this speculative non-sense.

I generally fall on one side or the other when it comes to these things but I'm on the fence with this one.

The 911 997 GT2 @3.4s. The Porsche 9FF GT9R clocks in at 2.9s. The fastest Porsche 911 GT3 clocks in at 3.1s.

At this point there are no timed tests of the Ford GT, but it is expected to be around 3s.

The 2003 GT closed in at 3.8s.

None of those porches are half the price of the Ford GT.
