The 911 997 GT2 @3.4s. The Porsche 9FF GT9R clocks in at 2.9s. The fastest Porsche 911 GT3 clocks in at 3.1s.

At this point there are no timed tests of the Ford GT, but it is expected to be around 3s.

The 2003 GT closed in at 3.8s.

None of those porches are half the price of the Ford GT.

It looks like you did some research however the 991 911 Turbo S is a 2.8 as pointed out above and runs $200,000 optioned out. If the GT is $400,000 + or - that would be half the cost, based on my back woods math.

But back on topic, I'm still in the fence!

I guess Im not getting the whine here. Its a V-6 and not a V-8, it doesnt sound "bad ass", It wont get the fuel economy claimed, whatever? Im sure it will still be one improved, refined kick ass truck that will command respect.

IF I could afford to buy a new one, I'd wait still til the bugs get worked out. But my concern would be the 10 speed tranny, not the motor. This should be the refinement of a damn good motor and make more power to boot. Should be better gas mileage too which is the major rub on the current Eco Boost. And its still a RAPTOR, the baddest production truck to date. It doesnt diminish our soon to be "non current" trucks. If things didnt improve with time and inovation, we wouldnt be here.

Otis,

I share your concern on tranny issues. I went through this very issue on a 2016 Z06 8L90 that GM rushed into production. Lots of issues so much to the point of selling the car. Same can be said on the escalade that we own which has had the converter replaced along with numerous other issues here and there. Again, same 8 speed transmission.

These already have less problems a year after release.

Just part of the bugs that come with new adaption!

It looks like my research was on a list that hasn't been updated. Your time is correct.

Regardless, they have already sold every unit without a 0-60 time so the point is pretty much moot.

There were over 7,000 applications for only 500 units.

Back to the main topic...........

Honest question. What's the point of arguing about 0-60 times anyway? Isn't that a useless marketing figure? I remember way back when the Dodge Viper was killing everybody 0-60 with the Viper because it could do 60 in first gear.

Isn't the real telling number the 1/4 mile trap speed? Or, if you are really a drag race guy, the ET?

I wasn't going to go there but agree with you.

For this forum the question should be 0-60 time on dirt or gravel anyway.

Speaking of gravel did you know that some Group B rally cars from the early to mid 1980s had 0-60 times on gravel of less them 3 second! So these new cars are not so fast.

2 things though, 1 those are race cars and 2 what are they geared or designed for. A rally car is setup to for to dart from dirt corner to dirt corner, a sports car or supercar are meant to be quick all across the powerband. The two are not really comparable.
