Excellent Newbie - I made a statement that I prefer my truck to something no one has yet purchased. I did not bash the Gen2 or say mine is better.....SIFO

Newbie? Newbie to what? I guess i don't know what you are talking about because i didn't see your post! And i still don't understand? All the year trucks have a link, {talking about any buddy and not just you!} So your a GEN 1 guy right and your not buying or even interested in a GEN 2! So why would any of you go on the GEN 2 link and give your opinions about what you like or don't like? The GEN 2 guys could care less? That is the truck we are buying!
Oh and by the way the GEN 2 in my opinion is much better than the GEN 1 !

This is FordRaptorForum.com and most of us use the 'unread post' function on the website or tapatalk.

Most of us are waiting to see what is actually going to happen with the Gen 2. No one is jumping blindly into a $70,000 purchase without hard numbers, so we read these threads. We don't have our heads inserted squarely up Fords ass like some

I am not waiting or jumping blindly into anything? I ordered a GEN 2 Raptor for MSRP! I need a truck to go shooting ASAP!! Its one thing to give out info and help people out, then its another to be a ******-bag and put people & the GEN 2 down! I am very sure its going to be a great truck and anyone that buys one will love it! and that is forming my opinion of how good the GEN 1 is! Oh this truck is more like $75k OTD

They're legitimately scared that their 2014 engine isn't going to be the new big thing any more. That is all, nothing else.

I bought my Mustang in 1995, a 1993 with 215 blistering horsepower, awesome car to have since the only cars really faster were corvettes and 300ZX TT, if you even saw one of them.

Now, I don't think I'd race that car against a Fiesta.

Times change. 10 years from now, all these new trucks that we're going to wash weekly and inspect for the slightest amounts of dirt are going to look like a 10 year old pickup truck and be outclassed by whatever is out at the time.

That's just life.

I've got a '64 porsche pumping out a monstrous 90 hp. Not much for 0-60, but in the twisties, it's also shit.

It's real purdy though.

Nah. I just think a V6 belongs in an Accord. It's not an engine that gets used in enthusiast oriented vehicles very often. Because it sucks.

I'm pretty sure the '93 GT was rated at 205 horsepower. And I think you're forgetting about the SVT Cobra (235 horsepower) and, more importantly, the LT1 F bodies (275 horsepower). I was wheeling a 1994 Firebird Formula with a 6 speed back in those days. Light car. Cloth interior, no t-tops, and didn't have the extra weight of the body kit on the Trans Am. Used to love running into Mustangs in that car. Even modded ones. Also used to love running into Corvettes and 300ZXs and even once an NSX.

'Murica.

I also had a very low mileage Teal '93 Cobra for a short while in '96. Wish I still had it.

I'm just saying... that V6 design in your first quote was used in two of the "performance cars" that you mentioned in your second quote.

On another note not related to the quote:

I wonder - is it the configuration of the cylinders that people don't like (V6 as compared to a flat or inline six) or is it the number of cylinders? There have been a lot of 6 cylinder performance cars over the years, but not a whole ton of them are V6s. Currently the GTR seems to do pretty damn well with that engine configuration.

You mean the two niche cars that were discontinued? :)

I'd be interested in a straight six. Would have to drive a boxer to see if I liked it or not.
