People still arguing?

As stated: everyone values a certain amount of money differently. Nobody is wrong unless they can't afford it. I happen to be someone who paid a little bit of a markup (not as high as others) but I waste money everyday... I mean I'm one of the guys who has spent thousands on clash of clans. Whatever. Lol. I own a house, pay for games, buy guns, bought a raptor with ADM... I'm under 30 y/o and enjoy my life. Yes I still have a nice retirement account, I am not living pay check to pay check. No one here can tell me I am a fool for spending the money I have earned and have to use. May as well do it while I don't have kids. Oh and I future proofed myself, I got a SCREW ;)

i don't understand why people always use the "i can afford it" line. that means absolutely nothing! usually, if you are constantly paying more than you should for things, you will, over time, be able to afford a lot less.

i have a lot more fun, stupid stuff like cars and guns and tools and all kinds of other toys in my life because i GET GOOD DEALS and i don't overspend. over time, i get more cool stuff. but hey, i don't "have to have it now" and i'm not jealous of anything anybody else has and i don't get bored with my toys in 5 minutes.

"I can afford it" to me means I am not going to end up being able to "afford less" later. If I don't spend the $3k on one thing this month, I definitely will on something else. If I want to buy something more expensive, I just save for a 2 or 3 months. Boom. 15k saved. I have a new flavor of the month all the time. W/e. A.D.D ftw.

I got to where I am by working hard because I know I am compulsive and am materialistic. I've also been in the boat where I was living pay check to pay check before I was where I am now. If I can't afford it, I don't buy it. It's a simple process. I see no reason to save tens of thousands.... just because. I *might* want something later. If you are saving for a house, sure. But that's a different story for a different time.

You pride yourself on good deals, and I applaud you for that. I pride myself on not giving a shit and shop wherever I want and not look at prices. A lot less stress in my life that way. I will pay for convenience. Convenience has a price.

2010 gen1 $500 under MSRP 3yrs
2013 gen1 full MSRP 2yrs
2015 Porsche GT4 full MSRP 1yr

138k miles between the 3 and paid about $15k for ownership lol. The Raptor never went up in value but it sure did not come down much. I am getting my Gen2 at MSRP but think this Raptor is not going to hold up in value like the Gen1 did.

I always laugh when people say "suckers" you mean like the suckers who fly in private jets instead of Delta or take a limo instead of Uber? Or eat at Ruth's instead of Outback? Not many people IMO are going to buy a $60k pickup + $10K adm unless they can really afford it. I have been wrong before but usually win the internet regularly.

My point at the top was... the 3 cars I paid MSRP for held their value better than most ever would at MSRP.

this is like watching liberals argue with republicans. it goes nowhere, cause everyone is already set in stone with how they feel.

i would argue that many more consumers dislike the practice of ADM and refuse to pay it. sure, there are a few (and they seem to mostly be on this thread) that are willing to pay it and think that the practice is completely acceptable.

personally, i think the dealers are short-sighted. i have seen this time and time again, they always gamble with high mark-ups and those mark-ups never go up, they always come down and typically level out to sticker or just a bit under/over. remember, we are talking about a mass-produced trim package. it's not "special" or "rare" in any sense.

for me, it's the fact that ford practices this ADM garbage the most in my experience. i can get a z06 or a gt-r or one of many other specialty vehicles at sticker or much less. are they less "special" because of it? no, it's because ford dealers are the worst.

Until consumers stop paying ADM, dealers will continue to profit from it. I'd bet that this markup concept in other industries is more common than we think. Also to your point about "mass produced" or "rare". 2017 G2s don't seem to be everywhere just yet and allocations for msrp G2s seem to be the exception rather than the rule. Maybe towards the end of this year we will see them next to the platinums, xlts, king ranches, etc, on dealer lots but to think they are produced in these similar mass numbers doesn't seem very evident at this point in the game.

Pretty impressive considering that sales tax on approximately $175,000 of vehicles is close to the $15,000 you say it cost you to drive them.

Completely off topic but holy shit where are you living if sales tax on vehicles is over 11%??

I said close. $175,000 * .07 is $12,250. It could have easily been $200K for those 3 vehicles depending on options. That's be $14,000 at 7%.
