Damn Komifornia is 100% sales tax on anything purchased regardless of trade in. LA county is 9%. We have an annual registration license fee in the hundreds.

"I can afford it" to me means I am not going to end up being able to "afford less" later. If I don't spend the $3k on one thing this month, I definitely will on something else. If I want to buy something more expensive, I just save for a 2 or 3 months. Boom. 15k saved. I have a new flavor of the month all the time. W/e. A.D.D ftw.

I got to where I am by working hard because I know I am compulsive and am materialistic. I've also been in the boat where I was living pay check to pay check before I was where I am now. If I can't afford it, I don't buy it. It's a simple process. I see no reason to save tens of thousands.... just because. I *might* want something later. If you are saving for a house, sure. But that's a different story for a different time.

You pride yourself on good deals, and I applaud you for that. I pride myself on not giving a shit and shop wherever I want and not look at prices. A lot less stress in my life that way. I will pay for convenience. Convenience has a price.

everyone is different, to each their own. we all tick in different ways. the base of my argument still stands, in that more people are turned off by and refuse to pay ADM. i also believe ford and its allocation system lends itself to predatory dealer tactics that hurt the consumer.

in any case, i guess it depends on how loyal you are to ford. i have a good buddy who is a ford fanboy and he will never buy anything but an f-series. just how he is, he could get one that fell apart on him and he'd still buy another one.

Exactly.

But ya I am not loyal to any company, the gen 2 raptor is just too badass.

PA is 6% and is paid on the trade difference. So, you save 6% trading vs selling outright.

In most cases, if you sell your vehicle yourself, you come out several thousand ahead of trading no matter what the tax consequences. With the high demand of the Raptor, they're fairly easy to sell.
