On my Lightning I had the Ford 8inch antenna and it worked great. If I get a shorty antenna it will most likely be another Ford unit.

Good idea. I need to swap out the Craven as I've noticed a drop in reception since switching to the unit. Maybe a moderate length antenna (8") will give me moderately better reception. For me the whole idea of going to the Craven had to do with fitting in the garage, as the stock unit kept dinging the garage door.
