Wrong. Everyone told him he was stupid because they couldn't follow his train of thought. You guys should all watch Idiocracy. Its exactly like this thread.

Wrong. The thread title asks for people to tell him why it is bad. Then they did. What am I missing here?

And, yes I have seen Idiocracy. Maybe he can call his Raptor "Ass Blaster Jr." after he lifts it and puts a ***** on the hood.

Wow... there's just no reaching some with sound, rational logic. Let her go boys! Shunned is sure hung on 4 inches... You realize that you can run up 3.0's just short of top perch and not stress the CV joints at all? "Big" just swing your 4 inches on over to the Texas Raptor Run, and show all tha shunners who's boss in your badass lifted street queen... but be sure to BYO Tow Truck haha! Trey has been itching to add an F Class :driver:
Sound logic, I must have missed that. When guys have brought up logical points I have either agreed with them or pointed out other things which contradict their point or they were not aware of. Also, i'm talking 4inches here not 6,10 or greater. It's 1.5 inches taller than top perch which seems to be generally accepted as a reasonable height to lift their trucks. Based on my past use of my trucks I don't think this will be a street queen. Already took it snow wheeling after 2 weeks of ownership. I beat the shit out of my 05. Feel free to check out the video. It doesn't capture all the dumb shit I've done in the 05 but it definitely proves my trucks aren't street queens.

Horrible. You know that's not what I'm referring to. That's got to be at least 12"s.
To the OP: I don't like you!
You like to start an argument and then manipulate it without ever adding, but always tearing down the arguments given.
Once realizing that you may be on the wrong track you proclaim that you have been on the correct site all the time and just been leading everyone else to come to the correct conclusion.
I have met you many times in many places ... I know you!

To your question: lifting adds adverse lever actions and stressful angular motions.

P.S. To the young punk picking on 6.2: back off, that's my job :)
I made my assertions in my opening statements. In hindsight, I problably should have mentioned the use of 3.0 shocks and new deavers in the rear. My mistake but I'm not looking to "tear" down anyone's point. People have either misunderstood my assertion, don't understand what a 4" suspension lift is, or just haven't taken the time to really think out what I'm asking. I'm not trying to be ****, but the conventional "wisdom" around here thinks this is bad. I want to know what it's based on. If someone chimed in and said "yes 1.5"s taller than top perch will really hamper the raptor's off road performance due to x y and z" I'd be fine with that.
Here is the "too long; didn't read" sum up for this thread:

1.) Someone asked why a 4" lift is bad.
2.) Everyone answered why a 4" lift is bad.
3.) OP got mad.

Mad? Where have any of my posts reflected that? Feel free to quote any that you find. I think I've remained pretty damn calm for the amount of condescending remarks so far. Hey, but I knew they would come when I started the thread so in part it's my fault.

Wrong. Everyone told him he was stupid because they couldn't follow his train of thought. You guys should all watch Idiocracy. Its exactly like this thread.

:roflbow:
Yeah, not exactly.

I understood his question. :birgits_tiredcoffee
I never called him stupid.
I too didn't like his arguing with those who responded to his question.
His train of thought jumped the tracks early on in this thread. :goofy_batman:

At the end of the day he should do what most people who want something for their Raptors: CALL THE VENDORS ON THIS SITE AND ASK THEM.

He won't do that because THEY'LL politely tell him how stupid his idea is especially when they already HAVE BETTER SOLUTIONS.
It's not arguing. It's called a discussion or debate. Maybe I should give them a ring but why is this forum here than? To share information, or at least that's what I thought.
I say lift it and see how it does. Why not? It is your truck and money. Just let us know how it works.

THanks buddy. I probably would never go this route anyhow but I thought it was worth looking into.

Hey guys, I know a lot of you now think of me as the village idiot for starting this thread and bringing up such a topic. Hey, maybe I am. But, try to understand what I'm asking and what I'm trying to get answers to. I never said this was good idea. I want to know if this is a good idea or a bad idea. And most importantly, why either way.

Can you just do it? Worst that could happen is it turns out not working and you take it off and go the 3.0 route.

One problem I DO see with doing a suspension lift is going to be the longer spindles. The factory spindles have already been proven to be a weak point on some more serious "offroad adventurers" vehicles and if you lengthen them (giving place for more force to be applied due to leverage) then I'm SURE you will have problems in this area.

This was something that I had thought about just because it popped into my mind. I decided to brave the shit storm I knew this thread would attract because I read a couple posts on Squatting Dog's thread about the Bull Run. He referenced issues he was having with angles and his hubs failing from the Snow Ball 500. He's on the lowest setting for the Icon shocks. He's searching for a way to address the issue. Not that he would go in this direction, I thought it would be worth figuring out if it would actually work. With the length of the supercrew I would love to have some extra ground clearance due to the long wheel base and better approach angles.
10-4. So better approach angles is the goal?

If so, how about a replacement front bumper and a dovetailed rear? Both result is at least as much approach angle increase as might a 4" lift from stock. Heck, depending on how you do it you could end up with tons more even.

So, yeah if increasing the approach angle is the goal, I would say a lift is a "bad" idea, especially when compared to the other options out there.

well if you take the raptor in terrain like the videos like above take videos! The Raptor will probably sink like a brick unless you get some heavy momentum going into it.
