GT350 is not like the Raptor. GT350 is a limited production car. Ford is limiting the number they build to a very low qty. So dealers will always be ripping people off on them unless you happen to find a dealer that does not screw people over. I wanted a GT350R but I know I will never get one since they are only making like 200 a year and the mark up is insane. If I get a Gen 2 it will be in at least a year or so and when the dealers have calmed down. I will then go place an order for one at like $1k over invoice and wait

But when cars are sitting on dealer lots or showrooms for over a year, the party is over. Its not that desirable anymore. The newness wore off. Its a shame about the 350R. I would love one too but I would NEVER spend anywhere near the money they are asking for them. I'd rather have a Z06 anyway.

They hold the limited number cars for two reasons. First you can not order one unlike the raptor as everyone that has one on the lot is the only ones you can get so a sucker will eventually pay up for it. Second is they list it on the website and get foot traffic due to it.

And I love the previous z06, wish they would have kept it more a race motor with a high rev NA v8 instead of the blower. That is the one thing ford did right with the GT350 they put the correct motor in it for road racing. The previous Z06 woke up with headers and a Cam and was a blast to drive on the track.

Seriously, WTF.

Dealer JUST called me. When I saw the caller ID say Zimmerman Ford I got so ridiculously excited since I haven't heard from him since I placed my order......WAAAAAY back in JULY !

I answered and said "....so you got a VIN for me???" in a happy/excited tone.

His response...." unfortunately I have some bad news".

He went on to explain that of the 3 allocations they were given by Ford, they just were told today that they are only getting 2. I was the 3rd, so my order got canceled.

Of course my mood sank like the Titanic at that point. He said several dealers were being told today.

I placed my order about a week after the pre-ordering was allowed back in July. They were charging me $1000 below MSRP.

Oh well, wutchya gonna do.....

Hey, I just talked to my dealer, Fair Oaks the GM confirmed that he has 6 allocations sold and he only thinks he will get 2 or 3 before they turn into 2018's

You had that order number - but did you ever verify with ford service that your order was accepted, and 'unscheduled clean' ? Does anyone else's order number look like that '#1002' ? Mine is a longer number. I just wonder if they gave you some made-up number and put you in 'line' telling you that your order was entered and hoping they'd get addl allocation. If you did have a confirmed order like Robtor - hard to say - sounds like some dealers are pulling some nonsense although you hate to believe that..

dumb question, but if you have an order that is verified "unscheduled clean" with Ford, does that automatically mean that your dealer actually assigned you one of their existing allocations or just that they submitted an order on your behalf?

I could see situations where unscrupulous dealers are submitting "verified" orders for customers and not assigning them one of their allocations while waiting for people to come along who will pay ADM for one of their allocations.

Gator Ford in Lakeland (scumbags) took my order months ago, had me sign the msrp figure and date it, confirmed with the GM only to call me weeks later to say sorry there was an order already in that took your allocation. I truly believe they got a higher offer and dropped my order. Seems there aren't any ethics in many of the "used car salesman" dealers. I sat with the GM in a private office at Gator Ford and explained the situation and that this was wrong what they were doing. His response was 'I am truly sorry, I don't know how this happened and I am going to do whatever I have to, to make this right". He also said "I give you my personal word I will do everything in my power to get your Raptor order in, if I have to pull some strings or call some favors in I will do it". I haven't heard (nor did I believe him) a word from him since then and that was 3 months ago. Gator For scumbags all the way to the top.

Darin can confirm but IIRC the dealer doesn't control the system

If they enter an order and it gets pulled, **** goes 1 allocation and so on until their allocations are all gone

Then, dealer can still submit orders for a 2nd wave in hopes more allocations are doled out - these will indeed show up as unscheduled and may remain that way until they are eventually voided out

TL, DR yes a dealer could do it assuming they wait until all their allocated builds are pulled first

BajaFred is correct with how the ordering works. No allocation, no units built. Plain and simple.

Blame the morons that like being bent over so they can be the first idiot to get screwed. And ppl wonder why so many idiots are in money trouble. Unless you have tons of cash to spare , and I doubt not many in here qualify , you shouldn't be paying even msrp
