* UPDATE *

I called the dealer back (shortly after my first post) and asked to speak to the GM. We spoke and he gave me the same info, that being their rep informed them that Ford is cutting allocations. I felt something wasn't right. I asked for the name of the rep and then the phone number. He gave me the name, but could not give out the number but said he would have the rep contact me. I said that was fine and also said NOT to send me my deposit back yet until this gets sorted out.



Skip ahead a few hours....Well, I just got ANOTHER call from the dealer....new story. The GM MISUNDERSTOOD the conversation with the rep. Apparently the rep told him that Ford is pushing back production due to issues with the 10 speed. Many Raptors and 3.5 equipped F150's have not yet been released despite being completed and are therefore just sitting on a lot. The GM somehow misunderstood that to mean they were cutting back allocations ????

Anyway, as it stands AT THE MOMENT....my order is still good, but they have not idea when production will actually start, which is sort of where I was before he called me the first time today.

No.

And I have messaged Ford via FB every Friday asking if my order has been picked up.

Seriously, WTF.

Dealer JUST called me. When I saw the caller ID say Zimmerman Ford I got so ridiculously excited since I haven't heard from him since I placed my order......WAAAAAY back in JULY !

I answered and said "....so you got a VIN for me???" in a happy/excited tone.

His response...." unfortunately I have some bad news".

He went on to explain that of the 3 allocations they were given by Ford, they just were told today that they are only getting 2. I was the 3rd, so my order got canceled.

Of course my mood sank like the Titanic at that point. He said several dealers were being told today.

I placed my order about a week after the pre-ordering was allowed back in July. They were charging me $1000 below MSRP.

Oh well, wutchya gonna do.....

You are certainly taking it a LOT better than I would, which speaks volumes. This is the reason I was given advice to go with the largest Ford Truck dealer within a reasonable distance. Glad I took that advice. For comparison sake, my dealer has 15 allocations and I'm the first special order in line. They bumped one for stock above me, which I am fine with....

Try a larger dealership if you are still interested in the truck. That truly sucks since you ordered in July.

ETA: Now I see it was a misunderstanding? - Something smells fishy to me. Regardless, good luck and I'd still want to talk to the Sales Rep from Ford, were I in your shoes. Not certain, but I'd also be calling some larger dealers in your area. Even if you have to drive, but it would suck giving up that July order.

rms8, Im glad you are still valid.

If I wasn't able to find this 2nd order id be pretty heated.

So just messaged FP via FB, 2 orders submitted, 1 larger dealer 1 smaller dealer. Somethings gotta get plucked man!!!

Yes, I had an order number.

#1002 with Zimmerman Ford in St. Charles IL. Gave $1000 deposit.

They are naturally going to refund it, but I have a feeling someone else walked in after seeing all the media getting 1st hands on it last week. That person had deep pockets and the dealership gave me a line of BS instead of just telling me someone else is willing to pay more....

You had that order number - but did you ever verify with ford service that your order was accepted, and 'unscheduled clean' ? Does anyone else's order number look like that '#1002' ? Mine is a longer number. I just wonder if they gave you some made-up number and put you in 'line' telling you that your order was entered and hoping they'd get addl allocation. If you did have a confirmed order like Robtor - hard to say - sounds like some dealers are pulling some nonsense although you hate to believe that..

Definitely smells of a scam. It was only a misunderstanding after you asked to speak to Ford Corp (regional rep) and they knew they'd get in trouble.

I would still go on contact Ford Corporate about the situation, misunderstanding or not. That is no way to treat a buying customer. What happens if they tried this with the other 2 orders also they had. And Ford Corp was made aware about this by others too, then this stealership would probably have some consequences.

I have a buddy who is order 1001 at his dealership and his order is valid. Mine is also very similar.

The GM misunderstood how the system works?, yeah right. They fully understand how things work, sounds like he dug his ass out of that hole. If the GM honestly doesn't know, then he needs to find another job, he clearly is pulling one over on you. Dealerships have perfected the perfect lie(s).

Not to pile on, but I'll be piling on

2 sides either what he says at face value or that they sold your spot to someone else and put you in line if they get any more allocations

Either way, I'd start shopping around with a new dealer

At face value, he's an idiot not to understand how the process works

The other side, they sold the 1st one from you chances are high they will do the same if your replacement "order" ever gets filled

Are you sure they have a allocation for you now? Or are they hoping to get one to fill your order?
