Would it just be an engine option or would they make it a more exclusive Raptor R type machine? I don't mind a rare Raptor R type model but if there really is a 5.0L Eco option I hope they have one version that is mainly just an engine option that is only a few grand more (3-5K max). I think there would be a nice line for that one!

No telling with Ford, I just hope they come out with some thing. Not that the v6 is bad I'm sure it will be neat with the ten speed and all. But I like the sound of a V8.

Hey, we'll start comparing the sounds of cars to sewing machines!

Actually when compared to F-150 Sales, Raptor sales are minuscule. Ford Sold roughly 10,000 Raptors in 2010 and with every year it has increased by roughly 1000 units. So in 2014 they sold roughly 14,000 Raptors.

Ford sells roughly 45,000 F-150s a month. So in 2014 Ford average 45,000 F-150s and 1,166 Raptors a month. This is why the Raptor is only made one plant as it is too expensive to tool more than one plant as it is a low vol car.

So if Ford were to make the 2017 Raptor much more expensive then sales could drop. I doubt Ford would want this as they want the Raptor nation to grow.

Exactly.

Ford likes selling lots of these trucks.

for comparison sake, the SVT Gen 2 Lightnings, in the heart of the pickup truck craze of the early 2000's, Ford sold 3-4k of those a year. The raptor selling 3-4-5 times that amount, especially during elevated $3.50-$4.00/gallon gas price days, shows that even though the Raptor is a small % of overall f150s, for the Raptor being a specialty f150 like the Lightning, its blowing it out of the water as far as popularity and sales.

Good point! And I never saw why the lightning was so special. And it seems most car guys felt the same and thus this lead to low sales.

If you compare anything to F-150 sales, it's going to be miniscule. ;)

14,000 Raptors is roughly $700,000,000 in sales for Ford. That's significant numbers for any manufacturer.

But like you said, the Raptor is a hit and you can tell Ford wants to sell more of them.
