Arrived two days early from what the email with tracking first showed. Impressed with the packaging and product. Quality seems very good and nice cushion, about an inch. Haven't drove around but sat down and tested it with my arm, very comfortable.
Only thing I could say would like to see it a little closer to the door and it is a tad over on the factory armrest.
Overall I am glad I got it.

Hi guys

First of all let me say hello to everyone. :) I am beating myself for not thinking of this forum before and only registering now.

I'd like to point out that the overhang is INTENTIONAL. Some people feel that the factory plastic armrest is not just too low, but too far from the seat, especially lower people complain about this. We wanted to make the SnapRest not only taller than the factory armrest, but also wider, to try to solve that problem.

So it is not a poor fit at all, that is how we designed it. It's not a bug, it's a feature. :)

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to contact me in case of further questions. I’m here to help!

Have a great day,
Maciek

As you wish. But here's a quote from F150Forum that proves our point:

Received mine yesterday and tried out this morning on my 10 minute drive to work. Quality construction is top notch. I was impressed. The overhang as previously discussed was needed as the original armrest is too far from the seat so the snap rest helps here although I do wish there was more overhang as I still need to stretch my left arm to the steering wheel but certainly an improvement than before. The padding is soft but not too soft, I think just right.

THANK YOU. That's exactly why we made it deeper - it moves the resting point of the elbow closer to the seat which is particularly important if you are sitting high, have short arms or both..

In fact I wanted it to be another 1/2inch deeper but we had concerns that providing too long a pivot arm would be dangerous, ie. For example if one was to lean their entire body weight on the outside of the SnapRest while getting in or out of the car, we feared it might dislodge.

We know now it won't, but we had to design it in one effort to minimize the huge cost of the injection mold, so we had no way of knowing before the complete product was done.

Now regarding the distance to the door, it's the minimum it could have been. We didn't want it rubbing the door panel and when you rest your weight on it the padding flattens and widens at the same time, making it touch the door panel - almost.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to contact me in case of further questions. I’m here to help!

Actually I drove for 30 minutes today and I actually really liked it, very comfortable. Just took some getting used to because I was in such a habit of never resting my left arm on the door. I don't disagree with it hanging over as at times my elbow was barely catching the edge when I was driving with one hand.

Definitely worth it so far, very impressed how it makes the drive better.

Only thing I would say about the overhang, because the stock door handle rounds off at the edges, the perfection would be to contour the snaprest to follow that. This might be more trouble than its worth but it would make it seem more like it was meant to be.

First, I have to say that I was wrong. Snaprest emailed me twice this week, the first time was to notify me that the product had shipped and then the next day to provide the tracking info. By then, The product had arrived. I guess I need to read my email.

Now for my review:

I agree with everything Rick has said. The packing is impressive, the materials used are high quality, the concept is great, and the armrest is comfortable.

I like the armrest, but I don't love it. Here is what I see as weak points:

The armrest is too thick, at 2 3/8" it raises your left arm quite a bit higher than the center console. You can feel there is about 1 1/4" base material and about 1" padding. I would like to see it no more than an inch thick.

It's too far away from the door. If it were just the leather, it wouldn't be an issue, but the base material is 1/4" away from the door panel and looks sloppy.

The stitching is sloppy. On the front corner/edge, the out side stitching has a radius were the inside stitching meets at a right angle. This is in the most visible spot while sitting in the drivers seat. The stitching in Ricks pics look better than what I found.

I didn't mean to bash the product, just trying to give my initial inpressions. I feel like what I received was a prototype and not the $99 final product. It's a good product, it just needs some fine tuning. There probably could be slightly more overhang, to much overhang could interfere with the seatbelt. And as Rick said, the bottom of the Snaprest could be rolled over the edge slightly.

Hi guys

The stitching is hand-made. Therefore there might be some imperfections. We will always replace a SnapRest if you don't like the stitching on your unit. Just message us.

We will do some testing today. We feel the door panel might actually wear with age and get slanted (if you yank your door to close it, you can see the Ford factory panel bulge in the center!!).

This might explain why on some cars there is no gap, and on others the gap is visible. It's different noticably on both cars pictured in this thread - so it cannot be the product itself.

We will test with cars with different mileage on a nearby lot in the next few days to confirm that hypothesis.

We will also test a workaround whereby we will use washers to slant the armrest against it's base (the lid on the bottom with the adapter) which should help alleviate this problem.

Please stay tuned for more information.

Have a great day,
Maciek
