We've always had them pointed at the hub. It makes a huge difference during a tire change or doing trail repairs at night.

That's what I was thinking was trying to mount them in a way that would shine enough light on the suspension/towards the ground rather than just lighting up the tire. lol

yes. i have lights in front of my front tires as rock lights and lights in my wheelwells that light up the area if i need to change a tire or do suspension stuff in the middle of the night. also have led strips that light up my entire undercarriage. i can do work under my truck without a flashlight if needed

That's kind of what I'm hoping for it to set it up so that I wouldn't need a light to change a tire at night. I just don't want to mount like 20 lights to keep it simple, but have good lighting.

Lux makes some cool lights. I've had some as puddle lights on my other truck for years. They're nice 'cause they're magnetic.

Magnetic is nice, but I assume I would just be doing a lot of drilling and tapping. lol

My thoughts at this point would be probably to mount them like Smurf did in similar areas to try and get full coverage. I have a feeling just having one in each wheel well might not give complete coverage.

i have 16 or 18 on here. they arent the brightest ones but the price is right, and they have held up for a couple years now. maybe had to replace 1..

i have the ones pictured for 4 or 8.. the price seems to go down with the 12 or 20pack, so i cant speak for those..

Update on this.

I did some looking around and if I were going to go with one of the name brand companies, I think Diode Dynamics would be the way to go. Diode's rock lights are 800 lumens compared to 400 lumens from Baja Designs, which is probably true based on the design (white lens on both). The one big difference is that the Diode Dynamics ones have a round beam pattern, whereas the Baja Designs ones have a 180 degree beam pattern. Also, the Diode ones have swappable color lenses, and the Baja ones are always 1 color when purchased.

I had looked at the RGBW lights that Diode offers as well, but the light output is abysmal, like 75 lumens on white lens. I get that they can change colors, but what's the point if the light output is terrible. I would assume this is the reason that companies off the single color units still is because the light output is drastically different.

Look at the building quality between the two also, not all about output and doodads.

If Diode Dynamics had more stuff available for our trucks I'd be buying it. I have their headlights and foglights for my 22 F150 and they blow the Morimoto stuff out of the water. Now, generally speaking, I think by far Baja Designs makes the best offroad lighting out there, but when it comes to Diode Dynamics I'm willing to look at what their offerings are.
