Red Desert Run 2015 (Date TBD): Waiting on South Dakota Run 2015 to be determined. Run date by mid March at the latest!
Most likely August or September now (small chance of July yet).
Two full days with a potential short introductory run in the early evening or a morning run on day 3.
Potential Pre-run outing for a small group.
Requirements (may be tweaked yet):
Raptor (Limit of 10 trucks)
Radio (with our standard frequencies)
At least 1 spare tire
Tow rope
Survival/Retrieval gear
Positive Attitude
Hoping to have at least one truck with a winch and between us, extra parts and hopefully a couple
mechanic types.
We would begin in Riverton, WY and either make that our home base or if the desire is there, we can can stay on the trail the first night. Will plan the route and points of interest to hit as time goes on. A few areas I'd like to hit are South Pass City (restored mining town), Carissa Mine tour (same area), Killpecker Dunes (yes, you can drive on them), Boars Tusk, Oregon Buttes, Farson Mercantile (you'll know why when we stop) and maybe a little of the Wind River Mountains. Most of the route is wide open, remote, two-wheel drive roads in good condition (if it rains, all bets are off). This is a remote area and this will need to be considered when off-road. If there is trouble, help will likely be a ways off (and cell coverage is very limited). Do we have any first responders, medic types interested?
Potential Interest so far:
@ironside
@Wilson
@The Car Stereo Company (maybe only pre-run)
@CrownOffroad
@970Co
@The Macf
@IRONMAN
@Labraptor
@ChaoticSquare
@Ironhorse07
@BrockMarcotte
@factive (September only...no to summer dates)
@Jimbo (possibly interested)
@Java
@sublime1996525
