Posted WTB for a 24 Raptor R wheel.
Neverknowee sent me a private message for a R wheel that he would sell for $300. Sent pics. Agreed to pay half up front and remaining at delivery.

He reports his name as Douglas Gilkey. Forum info says his location is NE but when asked due to his number +1 (310) 757-9074, which is a CA number he stated that he had family in NE, but he lives in CA.

My Venmo wouldn’t pay him (@merindamixon). My wife’s acct wouldn’t pay this acct either- both stated payment declined (red flag, I know). He was adamant it was on my end.

After a day or two he kept asking if I was interested. I then decided to try PayPal (I know dumb idea). When I paid half the agreed price to [email protected] (says it is his son- Ollie Howell) he then said he would need to refund it because I didn’t use friends and family.

After multiple attempts to reach him he stated that he has refunded the PayPal transaction but will not send proof nor have I received an email to support his claim from PayPal.

I know I made mistakes here. I’ll get my money back from PayPal after sending all the correspondence to them. My message is to beware of this scammer and don’t buy from him.

There are several threads on this topic and detailed warnings/red flags of what to be on the alert for have been provided, yet people continue to pay brand new members with zero post counts their hard-earned money. I banned the member in question, but I can't fix stupid.

Yes, Big Blue, I understand and admitted I made mistakes.
Appreciated the stupid insult. As a moderator/ staff member I would hope you were above that. Regardless, I was making a PSA for other members. If someone wants to screw you they will figure out a way whether they are a member with 100 posts or not. It sucks. It’s not a ton of money but the principle is what matters. There are days of text messages exchanged and hoped that he wouldn’t put this much effort into such little reward. I was wrong and makes me even more skeptical of every person I come in contact with.

It used to be 50 posts to sell on FRF, which was too low a hurdle. Users would register and make 50 quick replies to gain eligibility.

Whiners get all butthurt when someone jumps on their new registered for sale threads, and inevitably some older users get butthurt about it too.

THIS is why new-ish users get shade when they just post up a for sale thread.

LOL... You are going to Jump on big blue for calling an apple an apple. Kinda funny. Look you made a dumb mistake. It is ok... we all make them. His comment probably Puts a little more sting than loosing the little bit of money you lost. The STING is how you learn. Good for @Big Blue.

You lucked out paying with PayPal as they are very good at refunding on fraudulent transactions. With all the scam artists out there it is very difficult to weed them all out, so learn and move on from this.
