I'll speculate along with everyone else. If a Coke can (aluminum) Raptor comes out, it will have a smaller, less powerful engine than the current gen. As much fun as it would be, the only reason they are going to a lighter aluminum body is to save gas. A twin turbo V8 is going to completely defeat that purpose.



It's just speculation though. 700 pounds less and more horsepower sounds great, but when has that really happened?

I agree with parts of this but a boosted v6 can put out more power than the 6.2.

More than a current gen stock 6.2, if ford applied everything from the current 5.0L and everything except the supercharger from the current 5.8L, a 6.2 would probably be capable of a reliable naturally aspirated 550-600 horsepower from the factory

Ford knows that the Raptor community isn't like the average community. Raptor owners know to expect low mpg. I don't think ford will move backwards on the performance just for mpg. Of course if they have to meet government standards, that's a different story.

just have to take the same formula that they've been using. raptor was successful so obviously won't be abandoned. and ford values exclusivity, so would another 3.5L EB that's so widely sold be used in a low production model?

Didn't ford disguise an aluminum body f150 with the v6EB as a Raptor and run Baja? I wouldn't be surprised to see that motor in the raptor going forward. Will be holding onto mine.

id like to think they would keep the 6.2 but i know the chances of that are slim, dont fix something that isnt broken.

Its always about government regulations. Every single thing you can get your hands on in this "free" country is regulated. I thought I saw the next set of truck fleet regs had to be around 24mpg.

How about some new tech on the future Raptor? I'm thinking a ceramic engine block with direct injection, and an engine management system that has several maps that can be selected by the driver from the cab while rolling.

As for aluminum body metal, anybody who has worked with aluminum knows that it can't be worked like steel. Only very minor dings without creases will be repairable. The default with an aluminum body will be to replace the body metal rather than to repair it, and it'll cost more than a repair when the damage is minor.

I do understand what you are saying
But itfeels like turbo's are just un-american
V8s and Blowers is American

Turbos are now there as well
Mostly due to thinking of the environment .
It sucks cause i mis the sound of 19.000rpm V10shortstrokes

We need to move on. Holding progression because of emotions ...sucks
