A hybrid Raptor?
That's just crazy talk.

Look ar what mclaren, porsch and koeningsegg are doing with hybrids

Specialy the porsch system on the 918 would be intresting
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porsche_918
Would make the raptor into a 4x2+2

Mechanical driven rear with 450 gas power
And electrical 250 horsepower on the front

Keep in mind no drivtrain loss due to a transfer case
As its just 2 seprate drive lines

None of that is official. Bunch of tweets copy n' pasted here, blah. And "share at a later date", it could be the news that they are not continuing. Show us a real link to a Ford website where they officially state a new raptor, thats what I haven't seen.

The only problem is that any hybrid that is actually fast and/or doesn't look like shit basically costs at or above $100k or at or above $1 million. The technology costs $$ to be performance oriented. Also, the Raptor already weighs quite a bit and batteries are heavy...especially the amount needed to motivate a fullsize truck which means more weight loss is needed elsewhere which means more expensive materials thoughout the truck because it already weighs a lot and has the aerodynamics of a brick.

Am I the only one who thinks a forced induction desert racer is like a bad idea? EB is already having reliability PR issues. You really want to taint the Raptor brand with that? If they do turbo, I would NOT call it ECO anything. The Raptor image is just not compatible with green or Eco anything. It's a bold statement of off road capabilities. Mpgs be damned.

It would be a bad PR move, not to mention all that sand being sucked into the engine...

Turbos are ok
Look at the dakar rally
Its not like the baja where they takkle 1000 miles in 1 go
But what most of us do compares mostly to a dakar
200-500miles max in a day of offroading
With time for propper service inbetween

Eco and raptor is not a good thing
Then they should call it a bronchiosaurus
:)

But on the 5.0 V8 twinturbo
I see no issues there.
