Those saying it's normal must have a Raptor burning oil and don't want to admit it has a problem.
Why would i care what a bunch of people on the internet think? BMW spec is 1 liter every 800 miles. Having said that most of the BMWs use 1 liter every 3-4k miles on there turbo engines. I know it’s a BMW but if i thought it was a real problem i would take it in. It is under warranty after all. I will monitor it and if it gets a lot worse, or i see signs of oil on the plugs or the exhaust i will take it in.

My post wasn't even remotely suggesting you care what other people think.

I've done 6 oil changes, most have been 4k - 5k OCIs and mine has always read full on the dipstick.

Everyone rushing to the dealership at the first hint of a problem have a lot more confidence in their abilities than I do. If it were me, I'd more carefully track oil consumption on the next oil change before asking any mechanic to start taking my engine apart. As others have pointed out, the most likely culprit is a short fill on the previous oil change.

heres what the dealer will do , check your level , ask you to come back once a week so they can check level and mileage , they will do this for X miles. Then at the end of the tesat if it is burning any amount other than around 1 qt / 1000 they will tell you its acceptable.........

Well i have no problem admitting my Raptor has a problem if it has a problem to anyone standing near me or any anonymous person i converse with on the internet and I dont understand why anyone would. No car is perfect and they all have problems. If i feel it is a problem i will take it in. Just an fyi, my truck has had that weird hesitation at part throttle from day one. I’m going to try the sp542 plugs first. If that doesnt work ill take it in.

You might be the first gen 2 owner to admit there are problems with this engine and transmission.

Hey Sasquatch, there are 83 FRF members on the Gen2 forums at this very instant. There are thousands of people who read and post here and nearly 50k Gen2s out in the real world. Yet you claim a few dozen miscellaneous assembly issues means there are fundamental problems with the design of the G2? Only in your wettest dreams.

Other vehicle forums have threads with hundreds of pages of posts about a real problem. Yet other than a nuisance drippy oil pan on the 2017, there hasn't been a constant reoccurring problem for the Gen2. At this point it is a lot more reliable than the G1. Maybe that will change as the fleet ages, but so far Ford did a fantastic job designing and building the G2 and there are not any chronic issues despite what you and your G1 cronies claim.

The last vehicle I had to add any oil to was a 93 Lightning and by that time, it had about 180k on it and also leaked a little. Using a quart in 3k seems really high.

And the 250 is a diesel designed to burn a little oil. The guy has a problem
