It was changed at the dealership , it took what its supposed to.

It would not surprise me at all if the dealership mechanic shorted you a quart of oil and took it home for his own use. When I had the dealer flush my cooling system last year, I found that they'd shorted me a half-gallon of coolant. Of course, I checked under the hood right away and discovered it immediately.

Mine uses 1 quart every 3k miles which is actually pretty good for a twin turbo motor. You will get more blowby because of boost pressure as well as some gets around the turbo seals. I add a quart at 3k and change at 5k.

Dealerships are a pain in the ass for the most part. I've been through a lot. I tend to buy a new car on average of every 12-16 months. Finally got lucky with an excellent one mainly do to the service writer. Stuck with them for the last 8 yrs. If your in the Houston area PM and I'll give you the Info. They're mod friendly and understand that 4x4's get abused at times and don't try to blame the way you use it. They just fix it. And before you say I work for them, I don't. My job involves a Tahoe with flashing lights

dont think thats normal,

Ive checked twice at 5000 miles after an oil change and no usage of oil.

You should have your dealer look at.

When I change my oil and its a 6 quart tank I will fillt it to about 5 and 3/4 of a tank and than check it a day later to see if I need to add because there is always residual oil in the system that never gets drained completely.

however, I do find it a little odd to be burning oil that fast on a new motor

I think I might know why you're experiencing this: You drain the crankcase, replace the plug, then pull the filter, screw on the new filter, and then add the new oil.

BUT if you pull the crankcase drain plug a second time after having pulled the filter, you'll get at least a half-cup more of old oil to drain out.

Try it next time.

Yeah, that's not right. I'm at ~17k on the odometer and just did my 4th oil change - none of them have been low at all. There's something wrong with your truck.
