I was one of the trucks (#7) that ended up with a bent frame. I really tried to prebrake and have deavers, so thought I took precautions to avoid frame damage but not the case. SDHQ put on the frame brace when they installed upgraded shocks and hydraulic bump stops.

Just for clarity.....did you already have the upgraded shocks and hyd. bump stops on the trip or did you have this done afterwards?

Gotta be after. Looks like a decent setup too. What # was your truck in the run?

Ah, I can testify that he was driving "more" sensible than most. I was #8 so I got a front row seat to the back of his truck for a good part of the first day. I think the truck was practically brand new as well.

The rear end had deavers, everthing else was stock. Except the 260 lbs of gear and rack mounted in the bed.

I would hazard a guess that the Deavers probably made the frame bending issue worse. They are much softer than the factory springs and will compress far more easily. That would suggest that a hard hit would be much more likely to hit the bump stop and consequently damage the frame.
