JLT oil separator

I just received my JLT and it has the new style filter. I would like to compare it to the old style so if someone who has upgraded and no longer has a need for the old style filter, please let me know. This will be going on my Raptor at the dealership when I pick it up in a couple weeks, build day was 2/5.

Both trucks have the new filter? I meant 5,000 miles, not 500. I understand the benefit of the catch can, but checking it every 500 miles isn't something that I have the discipline for.

If you look back to my post # 125 on page 13 I have pics up of how much was in there at approx. 800 miles. It was a little over half full.
I check it and empty it every 500 miles or so.

that's not bad for me. that's about every 3-4 months :pepper:

I have the new filter. I can only show you what I got. I assume it does have something to do with weather and driving conditions and style.
As you can see my oil is also still dark. I never had mine look that creamy color. Just a little on the bottom of the can.
500 hundred is probably too soon to check it but that's when I usually pull the dipstick and check other fluids so I figure while I'm in there anyway, I empty it.
I'm very happy with this purchase.

I know there are a lot of variables between trucks, but in general, do these need to be drained more often than every 5,000 miles?

Yukon - In regard to the last photo you posted, is that what was collected in yours after 4,000 miles?

Yeah, that was 4000 snoball miles. Some of them miles was bouncing off the rev. limiter. After hearing about some filing up I was worried mine was filled.
I have stock intake with K&K drop in filter and SW headers. No other engine mods. It was the first time it looked ****** brown. No way was I pouring that back in. Amsoil oil.

I emptied mine this weekend. It's been installed for about 3500 miles with the new filter and has not been emptied since then. It was about 1/3 to 1/2 full of dark oil. Just looked like regular used motor oil. This driving has been about 50-50 city and highway with one off-roading trip to TORR in Hunstville, TX. It did not have the creamy/chocolate milk look to it.

make sure u check/empty them on a regular basis, especially in the colder regions. just a reminder
Especially if you do A LOT of short trips. I found a chunk of ice floating in mine the other day and the majority of the can filled with water. Granted I have just a normal F150 with the 5.0, but still something to consider if you do a lot of short trips in the winter. UPR can, 2,300 miles, and those are 3oz plastic cups.
