sometimes when offroad driving, you need instant torque to carry the front suspension over a surprise wash or obstacle and the 3.5L doesn't have it... and hopefully you can at least get off the brakes ... it happens, but V8 grunt is what is needed in those situations..because you are not going to drive a gen2 or any ecoboost truck 2 footed like often needs to be done in off road terrain
I’m not 100% sure I’m thinking the same thing you are but I think so...

Using the predecessor 6.2, the V8 only had more torque up to... 2100 rpm or something like that? The graph is ALL over the Jen Too sub forums from 2016 through 2017.
Once the snails are moving air, there’s no perceptible lag; There is from at take off at idle, or just over idle but it isn’t much.

Where are you not able to torque over an unexpected obstacle to unload the front, are you in overdrive? The eco does need to be spun faster, for sure.
The turbos do behave differently compare to the N/A experience - it’s like this “non linear” feeling in how the power is delivered(?)

I would LOVE a 3.5 V6 with electric boost like a P1 or La Ferrari or a 918. A full electric raptor would be a non-starter for me at least.
I don’t want either but I do think you’ll get what you want. I don’t see an ev raptor anytime soon, Ford is slashing lightning production.

It’s hard to remember the raptor is really about the suspension. Where weight is a player. The finally putting coils in the rear gen 3 def makes a nice difference. And it’s a Baja truck which I prefer with just enough low speed chops to get me where I want, in that high speed context the eb is a good choice. That being said I still want a ford gt motor in one just to play with. Ya, I know FTO…. it’s nuts. :Big Laugh:

Anyway, to contradict myself, I want more power. The hp to msrp ratio these days does not compute in my brain. No I don’t want electric. More power, less cost, lighter. Keep improving suspension, and putting 2 way shocks only on 37 really torques my bolts. Marketing :biggun:

By the way from an old dirt bike rider regarding low rpm available tq, choose your gears wisely when in unknown terrain as to be ready to accelerate etc. Eng has capabilities use them.

still like my scab but prices, wow.

Those batteries will not take the pounding of curb jumping at Star ucks, what do you think the off roading impacts and vibrations will do.

at higher speeds, its happened a bunch of times where a surprise hole or wash appeared, and id stab the gas to try to unload the front end to get over it and basically nothing happens... the turbos arent doing anything with a quick stab of the throttle..

the V8 truck has instant torque and throttle response.. the ecoboost has turbo lag, even if its fractions of seconds, its there..

In Baja mode it does exactly what you’re describing and is responsive.
