The sad true fact is, whatever crud they feed us, we will eat... and perhaps pay over MSRP for it... even if its not what the enthusiast wants.

its still the best raptor made YET, even with all the issues that is has, and its also the only ones they are offering us.

there is so many options they COULD do, but they dont/wont.. Aluminum 7.3L Godzilla? Turbo Coyote? Ford can do anything..

the raptor isnt affecting the cafe numbers, like a fleet of F150s do... i bet raptor is less than 2% of total F150 production

The thing is, even if they offered a bare bones ‘stripper’ Rap, they still have to put in stability control, abs, airbags - aren’t cameras becoming mandatory now too? It’s pretty crazy now. So there’s no real way to remove enough of the complexity from the Rap and still have a profitable truck.

If they could manage to get a truck out without stability, control, abs, etc. it would be monstrously more expensive to insure. never mind they insured far less safe vehicles just 20 years ago, but count on this.

AL 7.3 might have enough to make a competitive, still --relatively-- simple engine offering. But not simple enough to make DIY work simple, easy or practical.

Only one thing really bothers the most profitable protection racket business in the world; government regulation. It will only take a small increase in coverage costs over what they are now for the .gov to intervene.

right now, EV’s are about 20-25% higher to insure. This can deter some customers from buying and that’s money the government wants spent. The first company to go over 50% more for an EV will trigger some kind of legislative, regulatory or bureaucratic backlash. Because of how in the current regime is on EV adoption, I would not be surprised if there would be a similar bill for insurance of EV’s like the ACA for healthcare. This would allow the government to not just regulate production, “encourage” ownership, but profit off the ownership as insurance coverage is generally mandatory.

We’ve seen the same thing with beachfront / coastal homes. Build on risky, disaster prone property. Hurricane rolls through and lays waste to your structures. Insurance covers, dramatically increases rates for everyone there. Rebuild, 2 years later, same thing repeats, insurance company tries to pull out. .gov provides a bailout.
True. Gubmint can deny a lot of ECONOMIC realities, but they can't change the laws of physics. There isn't anywhere near enough source material for the amount of refined lithium, nickle, & cobalt needed for current and future worldwide EV production. (Copper production is also well below current and future needs, but most of it doesn't end up in cars, so it's just one of the many other current shortages). All the EV lanes, tax credits, "free" charging stations & Social Media brainwashing cannot create more batteries.

This conversation at this point has been done ad nauseam. Future raptors would more likely have a Hybrid or V4 than a V8. Like look around what’s happening and things ain’t going back to the good ol’ days….they trying to outright ban engines and here we are still going on about V8’s coming back. They do have V8 raptors and they already out no dealer ADM required! Go buy one quick because they will only be appreciating in value from here.

are we really on a Raptor forum making claims that we are fighting for our livelihood? REALLY? Let’s get back to reality for a minute, these trucks are $80k - $90k if you are driving one of these you have no idea what fighting for your livelihood means. And before anyone gets too upset by the reality of my post, know I have served this great country and have seen what it is like in other countries. While we are far from perfect, this is still the greatest country in the world. Now let’s stop complaining and fear mongering and get back to talking about these amazing trucks and all the fun things we have the capibility to go do!
Perspective.

I don’t care for the perceived direction of our culture, from my point of view, but also having been to every shit hole for the past couple decades working for Uncle Sugar, we are a long ways from societal collapse.

Anyways, I make sure to get all four wheels off the ground daily over some railroad tracks on my way to work. THAT’S what having a Raptor is about.

I was one of those who wondered aloud about it. Interesting Ford put the 700 hp gt500 engine in the raptor with glee, but when you have 700 hp …why not?. The 500 hp not so much. Anyway point I wanted to make is I ‘think’ ram will continue the trx as the rho with A 540 hp inline 6 cyl 3 litre. So based on that ford might get busy on a more competitive engine for the non sc v8 part of the segment. At least I hope so. At any rate what I think will soon be shown to be wrong by ford as it normally is..:dogpile:

Is the gen 4, due in 2025-26 going to get the 500hp v8 from the dark horse? I’m sure the raptor r will be discontinued by then. Let’s be honest….we all want a V8, and ford knows this. And…..they want “raptor” to be unique. The 3.5HO might not be the future (next 4 yrs).
