Driving in snow?

The off road modes, Mud/sand, Baja, dial the ABS way back. I always use them on dirt roads so that I can stop faster.

No, ABS is not a feature than can be deactivated. Are you running the OE tires at the recommended air pressure? If you stab the brake in snow in any vehicle you’re going to get ABS intervention. Mine handles the snow very well, if I drive normally ABS rarely even engages.

Select either normal or sport (if in doubt measure your balls) then 4A....then TC off, that is best way to actually “feel” what’s going on in the snow & still have grip & still be able to put as much power down as needed

Are they rated for severe snow service like the BFG K02? If so, there will be a snowflake symbol on the tire sidewall.

I don't think severe, just says M+S on the sidewall

i think it depends on the snow. if theres a lot of water content you are probably slipping on ice. we got 8 inches of snow last night bere in thornton co, but the snow here packs down to almost nothing so it not bad at all. in the sierras around tahoe 2 inches of snow packs to ice and you are slipping around everywhere because the water content is so much more, it packs to ice quicker.

yeah...stop hitting the brake pedal so hard

ABS is engaging because you are hitting the brakes too hard, or your tires are complete trash.

If you get into abs, you are not braking properly. manual pedal modulation will ALWAYS be more efficient stopping then ABS.

Tires have a ton of tread left only like 6 months old.

I'll try what you said, just never seemed to have an issue in the snow driving other vehicles it seems.

Tons of tread mean nothing...if it is the wrong tire compound, they could be as hard as hockey pucks. And in snow, mud tires are horrible. Mud tires eject mud / snow so the treads are clean.

In the snow, you want your tires to hold the snow, snow on snow is what provides traction. not rubber on snow.

Snow rated tires have small sipes designed to retain snow for winter driving.
