Just received my Badlandz cut out and it smells of fresh paint on the y pipe and the turn down tip, I think they even feel tacky. Maybe thats what your smelling.

I was thinking of putting mine after the resonator, but the rubber muffler mount will be getting exhaust gas on it and could melt it. It looks like the only place is where the resonator is. Oh well.

That's odd I don't think this your cutout smoking like that but i don't know.

A lot of the guys were cutting out the resonator and just keeping it just in case they needed it for warranty work or something so don't throw it away haha

Ok badlandz owners. I bought the turn down tip and for the life of me I can not get a wrench or socket on either side of the cut out. Especially the bolt by the Y-pipe. Any ideas or advice.

I think Fozzy could be right about the paint causing the smell because my wiring looks all good. I've only driven 15 miles since install so hopefully a little more driving will burn that crap off.

I didn't get the turn down but am considering it after seeing RaptorReds so no help from me on that assembly.

About the thing not closing all the way, mine definitely needs a few extra taps after 4 seconds of holding it. On every other tap, it opens slightly and closes slightly and still doesn't close all the way flush. I'll get pics of what I'm talking about tomorrow. Anyone elses work like that?

Also on one of the pieces of paper it came with it says to spray some WD-40 on it do the hinges operate a little smoother that might help it close as well it did on mine

I'll give this a try too.

That could be the reason it's smoking I didn't get the painted one I got the plain SS one so no paint burning off for me

Yea the WD-40 helped a lot with the sticking part try it and let us know

Yea haha you didn't have to get the one painted black you just have to scroll trough all the options when you picked the sizes and all

Check my pics I posted a few pages back it's just plain SS no paint

Ok. Y-pipe is being installed tomorrow. Couple of questions:

Has anybody installed it after the resinator? I see everyone is deleting the resonator.

2nd question: With the BadLanz Cutout; where is everyone mounting the "SQUARE" toggle switch? ... And where are you getting power/ground from?

The 2010 raptors didn't have a resonator so I didn't have to worry about that part but yea most o the guys are cutting out the resonator and keeping it just in case they have to weld it back in for whatever reason

For the wiring I bought some 14 gauge wire from pep boys and ran the positive wire over to where the aux wires are behind the glove box and tapped into the #4 switch wire which is the small brown wire for the power for the negative I attached that to the center consol frame where t attaches to the upper consol by the gas pedal it's like a mounting bracket and that worked great for me if you need I can tak pics tomorrow and how you how I wired mine

The switch I put on the panel right under the steering wheel there's 2 clips that pull out on the top and 3 screw on te bottom then after taking that off I took my Dremal and carefully cut out the spot for te switch
