I think it just comes down to them not being meant for what we do.

Doug's Cutout looks like a better option. No butterfly valve to rattle. Instead, it slides to open and close. Pretty smooth.

If I got one, I would remove it and just leave the Y open for hardcore runs like TRR. Then put back on for street driving. Might make it last longer

Personally I love my vehicles loud. My last two trucks before this one were straight piped, do was my street bike. So honestly the loud muffler route is probably the right one for me. The idea of the cutout was cool, but it's a mod I regret doing.

Might be a little quieter if you just removed the stock muffler and kept it a rear exit system. Otherwise it probably isn't gonna be much louder than the open cutout.

Anyone have luck with the Qtp cutouts? I have them on another car and they are great. But thats a street car. So not sure how much dirt and rock abuse the motor housings would take.

The cutout goes in after the headers merge. Right off each header is a catalytic converter. So a true straight pipe would eliminate these converters and be right off the headers and would be much much louder than these cut outs. These cut outs serve a little bit more grunt but IMO are not worth the money for the little amount of sound you receive. But it's probably enough for these old men :happy175:

IMO the cutouts aren't worth their money at all. I'm still offering to give mine away.

As for the sound. My truck is plenty loud and I'm not quite "old"
