This is way better ! Great timing on the post , went out this morning and the stud was broken on mine and this is the second kit I have purchased.

They get my vote for rthe BEST customer service (other than Morrie at Bak). The lady said they HAD completely redesigned the entire part and they had been FLYING off the shelves. NO QUESTIONS - she is sending me an entirely new KIT - not even asking for the old one back. I had ordered originally (3 weeks ago) from DEE ZEE directly. She said they had had NO COMPLAINTS on the new version but had had TONS of complaints on the old ones. Super nice folks to deal with.

Got an email back. They told me to return it to the vendor I bought it from and order a new one.

So I'm guessing you cant reuse the strut with the new style sockets. Guess I'll see if I can get amazon to return the old one.

And your right about DeeZee customer service. After reading your comment I called them. Luckily for me, I bought my EZ directly from DeeZee and still had my original email confirmation of my order. I spoke to the gal in C.S., forwarded her the email from Octover 2011, and sure enough....They are sending me a whole new kit..For free! Sweet. :waytogo:

any of you guys with the old kit want to mail me your E clip?

At least then I can sell mine as a kit to buy the new one if I can't get Amazon to return it lol

Someone please post a write up and pics when you get the new version. I'm going to wait and see just how improved it is before I order.

And your right about deezee customer service. After reading your comment i called them. Luckily for me, i bought my ez directly from deezee and still had my original email confirmation of my order. The shock is ball and socket on the top and bottom - totally different than what we have. They were just pushing and flushing out their old inventory before the new ones. Sounds like they are running very low on inventory on the new ones. Better jump on it quickly.

So I called Dee Zee last week to ask about the new design tailgate assist. The lady offered to ship me one for free when I complained about the old design. Low and behold there was a box at my door today. However, upon inspection, the "new" design they sent me is exactly the same as the old design. Big disappointment. Has anyone actually laid hands on one of the alleged new designs and personally confirmed its existence?

LOL - SAME THING happened to me SF. Long story short apparently the lady got confused and the "Old design" is the "new design". Basically everyone has the new version and the parts she had sent me before that she thought were new were actaully old. She sent me a brand new kit as well and I am not even putting it back on. I honestly think their new design needs ANOTHER over haul. Parts are cheap and engineering is bad. I just dont like it. WHen I had it on, every time I closed my tail gate i was looking to make sure it closed correctly and the cable was starting to rub on the edge of my Line X on tailgate. DeeZee has great customer service but this part is manufactured by some one else she told me and they continue to get ALOT of complaints on them.
