If that says something.. What does it say when Outlaw Raptor almost exclusively uses ICON shocks.. They probably have more time in the dirt than anyone else..

So Outlaw has moved away from the KING Shocks being their go-to shock? Hmmmm.... Interesting

Let me preface this by saying I am gathering and relaying information as I get it. So others many be informed and be able to have the information to make informed purchasing decisions.

From what I understand and Bluesvt or someone else can validate. Outlaw is using ICON now for almost everything. There are a few things they will use Kings for or if someone just wants them.

To me this is a good validation of ICON shocks off road performance..

The only person who can answer this for sure would be Connor. However, it is also my understanding they will primarily be using Icon shocks. Except like you said Greg, for special applications and at the customer’s request.

This does speak highly for ICON for sure. I know when I spoke with them at TRR last year they were huge KING fans so ICON must be blowing them away with how well they perform to have them being their primary shock now. I am however still very interested to hear a little bit more on the compatibility of the ICONs and the RPG Stage 3 setup tho.

I will have more information after the Snoball 500 regarding compatibility.

Sounds like in Greg's case, the reason his setup is giving him a headache is because of the sacked springs. You can expect poor performance with ANY shock if your springs are shot.

Outlaw is not going to "exclusively" carry ICON's, but I believe they are stepping towards ICON being their primary "go to" shock for most customers. This isn't just because of the performance of the shocks, but also because of the customer service and attention each customer gets with ICON, that other companies simply DO NOT offer.

Do the actual King or Fox engineers jump in these threads and give advice, clarify questions, or provide real advice to customers? Nope. They depend on companies like Outlaw, RPG, SDHQ, etc., to do that legwork for them. Icon is actually active on the forums, helping their customers DIRECTLY, and also responding to issues that customers have with un-paralleled service and attention.

Customer service can make you, or break you... no matter how good your product is.

With all of the positive comments and first hand experiences specifically tied to the Icon shocks, I picked up a complete set over the holiday (a BIG thanks to Jason at SDHQ).

I know there have been some reported problems running the stock Fox set up on top perch. With the Icons, would I experience the same problems/issues at the top perch setting? I do not have the upper control arms yet, hell I don't even have my new truck yet. But I'm trying to plan ahead at this point.

Also, do the Icons come set at the mid or top right out of the box?

Here was the difference on my national spring change out.

There was over a 2 inch difference. Remember Greg, when we got our springs, the RPG standard was at 1.5 inch less than stock ride height. It want until a month or two after TRR that custom arch above the -1.5" was available. Now the nationals come at the stock ride height, unless some one asks for less.

Out of the box, I believe they're roughly between middle and top perch.
