The Icons do have an internal bump system. The main piston is a 3.0 that does the majority of the dampening. However, they have added an additional smaller piston to the top of it, so when the shock enters its last few inches of travel, the smaller piston enters a smaller cylinder at the top of the shock that is valved extremely stiff. This in turn slows the shock, prevents bottoming and acts as the internal bump stop.

In the front coil overs, not in rear bypass..

Thank you! I am glad you chimed in.. People were beginning to think i was crazy or remunerated spokesman for ICON.

These shocks are the best compromise between soft stock shocks and full out race shocks.. Is the best way I know how to explain them.

Greg, sounds like your springs are sacked for SURE. I've seen the National STD duty springs sacked after low miles on other trucks too...

My first Deaver +2 springs were sacked after 8,000 miles because I was carrying way more weight than they were designed to carry. Switched to +3 and they have been great for 12,000 mile and still going strong!

You should NOT be hitting your bump stops during daily street driving... You should have enough clearance and enough spring resistance to not be chattering off the bumps over dips in the road.

Sounds like its time for a RE-arching, or maybe even a different setup!

Yeah, I am pretty sure they are sacked.. When installing icons on the rear, the shackle was not pulling forward at full droop.. Had to force the axle down a good 4" to get shock in lower shock mount. Will be reworking the rear leaf springs set up after snoball and before TRR or another adventures..

Definitely a problem! They should drop right in without having to pull the axle down, as you know. You're losing 4" of droop travel which is SERIOUSLY affecting the rear performance of your truck. You shouldn't spend too much time chasing the tune settings as its going to change again once you get properly arched springs reinstalled.

man this makes me really want to check my national springs too... i dont hit the bumps on normal street driving or at least i dont think i do lol i tend to turn the stereo up pretty loud sometimes but i have noticed that when my truck is just parked in the driveway the leafs look flat just sitting there. i dont carry anything in the bed on normal day to day driving. but do take my climbing tree stand with me to work every now and then to go hunting on base but thats only 20 lbs i need to jack up the rea and see if it droops fully im interested to see how sacked out your leafs are greg.
