I like the semi-subtle, irredescent glow that the LED strip combined with the repair tape gives it. I think it tames the glow some, makes it more red and gives it a spooky look.

Thanks for the ideas, guys!

Just completed mine today. I have to say, I was hoping for a more red appearance than shows.

I did apply the brake light repair tape also. Again, would love to see it more red. I'm thinking about going the route of the colored folder idea and I'll give that a try.

Looked at taillight repair tape, and I thought it look a little washed out. Definately, think red folder or red gels they use in a theater will work better.

It's color gel, color filter, lighting gel, or simply just gel. It is a transparent colored material that is used in theatre, event production, photography, videography and cinematography to color light and for color correction. These modern gels are thin sheets of polycarbonate or polyester. When placed in front of a lighting fixture in the path of the beam, the color is projected. In a theater enviroment they last about a year before fading.. Just another option.

$6.75 for a 20"x24" gel and wide selection of optically correct colors.
