i was towing a trailer coming into slc on 80 west. going downhill my abs engages almost making me crash into the vehicle next to me. did it again about 20 seconds later. the entire weeked goes by and nothing. heading home it decided to do it again once but i was on level ground. it didnt trigger any other warnings on the dash, however i know my steering angle sensor needs replacing. i get a hill descent warning and no offroad mode every time i start my truck, but to have abs engage while driving? anyone have this issue before?

My only improper ABS experience was due to a bad wheel sensor - but I had a warning on the dash about check brakes or something - no actual code my ODB2 could read. When I was breaking under normal conditions the driver's side ABS would randomly trigger. Fancy dealer computer was able to tell me which wheel sensor was angry, though it was pretty obvious it was the front driver's side.

It’s not that check valve issue intermittently causing you to switch between 4 wheel drive and 2 wheel drive?

its not 4wd. i was coasting downhill on 80 coming into park city when it happened. the abs light came on when it happened, and then it disappeared afterwards. also a funny thing. sometimes i get the traction control OFF message. it is disabling traction control. weird stuff. need to replace the steering angle sensor and see whats left to fix

Wheel speed sensors. It seems like when we were in your front left there was some kind of problem with one of them. I will look later and see if I can find a way to test them. I think they are just hall effect, so if anything the harnesses could be damaged.

I’ve noticed this with cruise from time to time, always happened in the same spot in town, thought it was sensing oncoming traffic initially till I finally realized it was just the cruise control
