I put Stoptech and Brembo BBK's on my track M3 and Evo.

Both less than $5k'ish.

Where are you guys running this truck, at the Nürburgring?

I bet some solid rotors/pads and upgrading to stainless lines would do more than enough for what a majority of people need.

Are these BBK's really needed?

FWIW - braking it almost totally dependent upon traction (tires). BBK's or upgrades will not increase braking speed or decrease braking distance.

Aren't these Alcon Brake Calipers and Discs? Expensive stuff. Plus it is for all 4 wheels, not just the front setup like most big brake kits.

I said that once on this forum and some guy told me I was totally wrong. But I agree, a brake upgrade will prevent fade and make the brakes more consistent for longer during hard use but they will not help stop the truck shorter.

I actually though $8999 was a joke and that ADD was going to post the real price. Then I read the responses... :emotions133:

I think people who can afford this truck tend to have more disposable income.

When I used to run with the BMW crowd guys used to put full on coilovers, corner balance, and BBK all four wheels. AND never go to the track. Not even once.

I eventually put BBK's on because my cars were getting faster and I was getting better at carrying speed. So, I would often times get brake fade.

Common misconception.

I was set right by the racing crowd. Back in the day I used to do many a HPDE.

Before I got married, built a house, and had a kid...

What about from higher speeds when traction isn't as much of an issue? Would it help decrease those distances?

BBK's will not decrease braking distance. It will not make you stop faster.

It's all dependent upon tire compound. You can only exert so much force (clamping power) on the rotor with a caliper and through a brake pad before you overcome the available traction.

BBK's are used to fight brake fade. Travelling at high speeds then hammering the brakes into a turn generate a lot of heat. Heat is bad. Slotted and cross drilled help dissipate heat. Special vanes in the rotors also help cool down the rotors.

You can increase pedal feel by upgrading to SS lines, good fluid, and solid pads.

The negative effect of cross drilled or slotted rotors are that they weaken the rotor. Less surface area, holes, slots, all weaken the rotor. But, solid rotors shouldn't grenade.

Coming from driving Vettes and Camaros I wasn't happy with the stock brakes. I upgraded the pads to Carbotech AX6 (auto cross compound) for the front and 1521 high performance street compound on the rear. I will say that cold and hot the truck stops better than the stock pads and more consistent. I can get the ABS to engage on dry pavement without pushing the petal to the floor. On wet pavement I can easily lockup the brakes and slide. I like the piece of mind not having to worry about brake fade as I drive this thing 80 - 100 mph everyday on the highway. We need some 100-0mph and 60-0mph test results!!! Motortrend's 2012 super crew test truck stopped from 60-0 in 146 feet. I bet this kit beats that.

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/trucks/1208_2012_ford_f_150_svt_raptor_supercrew_first_test/

For reference, a 2010 C6 Grand Sport Vette stops form 60mph in 110 feet and a regular Z51 C6 stops in 116 feet. After owing both cars, the 6 piston front and 4 piston rear caliper are far superior to the 2 and 1 piston calipers on the base C6. But that is a lot of coin for some REAL brakes!
