After seeing those pics it is apparent that whatever hit or hits that bent that frame must have been exerting tremendous force. How is it possible to know if any kit could absorb that type of blow?

This thread really had to come to this point eventually.

When i drive my truck off road there are times that you can just feel the impact forces rumbling through the entire vehicle and you just know that was too much.

I do not understand why the emphasis is so great on the kits . The front has it own issues. I managed to hit something hard enough on the front passenger side that it buckled the front fender proud of the door. I am running 3.0s they must have bottomed out. I don't think the bump stops were even engaged. Point is if you are routinely bottoming out the rear really aren't you thrashing the entire Raptor. I installed 3.0s on all corners with bumpstops and rear springs I thought the truck was bullet proof and it was my swore duty to beat the ever living hell out of it . I was educated the next morning when i went out to see if i had damaged the paint with thorns and saw the fender. That one was on me so I have to own it.

Agreed. If that kit in question buckled, it's probably safe to say they all would with a similar hit. Let's face it, all bolt on kits are designed with a single cross support that have no downforce bracing from other structure.

That being said... I have no personal experience with any of the bumpkits on my personal vehicle.

I'd like to make a disclaimer and start out saying that I'm genuinely NOT pointing fingers at anyone who has posted on this thread and my opinion is not referencing frame braces only. I'm simply making a generalization.

These forums are great for learning, supporting, sharing and even bonding. Most everyone here is interested in "modding" their truck and want to pick the best products and make informed decisions which is understandable and smart.

However, I think one thing that needs to be understood is that when we make changes to our trucks, we are accepting some responsibility. I understand and agree that some products are crap, however, I also understand that when I bolt on an aftermarket modification, it doesn't absolve me of responsibility just because I paid a lot of money for it. Shit happens, especially when these trucks are driven like some of you drive (you know who you are). Even with 30k in parts, these aren't Trophy Trucks.

While I believe that companies are responsible to provide a tested and well designed product, I also know that it doesn't mean I can't break it. It doesn't mean that they've tested it in conjunction with every combination of other aftermarket parts... whether its wheels, shocks, exhausts, intakes, etc., and it doesn't mean it will work for my specific wants or needs.

For best results, after installing an aftermarket item, carefully go over the install (if you're doing it yourself) and try and determine if any problems can arise. Or, just slap it on and hit the dirt.... but don't complain if the end of a bolt on your aftermarket leaf pack hits and gouges your frame...which is what happened to me. LOL

We need to understand that we are modifying a vehicle to suit our wants; it's a big toy.

My .02 cents.
