Icon install is pretty time consuming lol my back was sore after that much time under my truck.

For those who installed them yourself, what company and how was the install?

Sent from my iPhone using Forum Runner

I installed my RPG kit, with the National springs with the help of some friends. Took us about 6 hours. That included runs for tools we didn't have and lunch.

The hardest part with the RPG kit, is bolting on the two bolts for the frame brace. You have to stick a wrench in through a hole in the inside of the frame, with the nut taped to the wrench. Didn't know that when I bought it, not sure if it would have changed my purchase or not.

After looking closer at the other kits, I like how the Outlaw and the ICON kits wrap around the frame.

I'd like to see a hybrid of the ICON / Outlaw and RPG kits. By that I mean, I like the frame brace length of the RPG kit, the wrap around the frame brace of the Outlaw and ICON kit and the extra cross beams of the ICON...if that makes any sense.

But back to your original question, it's a one day driveway job to install these. I'd recommend you do it yourself.

I too would be impressed with a crossbreed of kits, maybe that's what this new kit will be, not gonna make me change out my icon though, cause that shit was expensive lol.

Did it by myself both times. First time took me 7 hours as I needed to trim off some of the passenger side strike pad with a grinder. The strike pad had a little to much width and wouldn't allow the spring alignment pins to go in. I wasted 2+ hours trying to get the spring to go in before I realized what was happening. Had ratchet straps on the spring and axle trying to get everyone to lign up. Grinded it down and it popped in easy peasy.

Since I was familiar with the kit, I was able to install it in 2 hours on my 13. Thr kit is a pretty straightforward install and could be done without jacking up the truck except for the strike pad install.

Well I captured the unicorn. It took some hunting because I had deleted the pictures and had to find someone who still had them. They were originally sent out awhile ago while the old RPG was still together. I never had any intentions of posting these pictures. However, I felt my integrity was being called into question, which I take very personally.
I do not know the details of why this kit failed other than it did.

Can you weld on more support? With the use of someone who knows how to do that of course, but maybe weld on extra support at the weak jointed regions??
