A built truck running an Ecoboost caught on fire at Raptoberfest. Only evidence you're probably ever gonna see is from word of mouth from people that were threre, which RDFTS was.

A single instance doesnt make it a fact. A single instance doesnt prove anything. To prove something it has to be repeated with similar if not exact results in order to accept something as fact.

Now Im not saying RDFT is lying nor am I saying he is wrong but simply stating "it got hot" isnt an acceptable answer.

If one of your loved ones died of a fever and the doctors answer when asked what happened was "they got hot" you wouldnt accept that would you? Of coarse not. WHY did they get hot? How did they get hot? What lead up to them getting hot? What caused them to get hot? What was the underlying issues? etc

Same goes for the truck/EB; what were the circumstances of the truck getting hot? What were the conditions? What was the driver intentionally or unintentionally doing that caused the truck to get hot? Was the driver stuck in the sand up to the frame and endlessly gassing it for 45 min in 110 degree heat? Were they in the desert driving at 80mph for 6 hours? If so were they the lead car or were they driving in dirty air? What MECHANICALLY went wrong that caused the truck to "get hot"?

Yes, we all know turbos create heat but simply stating "I once saw an EB run hot and light on fire so therefor all EB's are pieces of crap and are going to light on fire or run hot" is a pretty damn bold statement without some hard evidence to support it.

Comparing a "built" current EB to what is coming in the next Raptor is a stretch. I'm willing to bet Ford has a few extra goodies on the new engine to help control the heat. Remember, Ford has a ton of EB engines running in buggies and trucks out in multiple desert racing events. They are gathering a ton of data. I still don't think that the EB is bullet proof by any means but I'm sure they are hard at work trying to make it better.

No, all EBs are pieces of shit and blow up/light on fire. The Gen 2 Raptor is a fancy grocery getter that pounds the pavement harder than when Jimbo's mom trips and falls. Its also only for women because of the v6. The Raptor died after 2014...RIP Raptor 2010-2014.

Don't get me wrong, it's going to be an awesome grocery getter! Much better than my current truck is.

Honestly, how many guys on here are really driving hard offroad? I drive offroad more than most and I don't push it very hard. I would bet that no one commenting on how ****** the new trucks are going to be will ever drive hard enough offroad to break it.

Once again, I better see your optioned invoice as soon as the order banks open.

Also, how's the turbo on your Subaru going? Weren't you not making boost for awhile a few months back? Tell us how you like that turbo... 2005 2.5gt Blown turbo or something else? - Subaru Legacy Forums

Turbo is doing great actually. Turned out it wasnt a turbo issue but an uppipe issue. The uppipe was clogged and once that was sorted out it runs like a champ now. Subaru engineers thought it was a great idea to put a cat in the uppipe of 2005 LGTs which can clog or break apart. When it gets clogged the turbo cant spool up correctly and if it breaks apart well it sends pieces into the turbo and you can guess what happens there.

I removed the cat from the uppipe and it ran and still runs like a top. The factory gutted up was switched out to a catless 2005 STI up after I verified the factory up was the issue. Runs fantastic now and I gained a little boost and faster spool.
