There are numerous options for the challenger...hellcat being the top of the line. I would agree that engine options would be cool and could appeal to a wider audience. Offer the v6 and the v8.

Ive said it once Ill say it again, if Ford puts a v8 option opposed to the Ecoboost ttv6 they are admitting the EB is not the best option. Ford is all in with the EB and want their flagship model to have it under the hood because if they dont people will say "well obviously there is a better motor choice or they are not confident enough in the EB so they are offering a v8 instead".

They are saying the ecoboost is the best option for this application, simple as that.

Thats just an assumption. They would just be offering options and letting the end user decide.

Yes! There are alot of options for the Challenger as there are lots of options for the F150 with the Raptor being the top of the line.

At the end of the day, every customer will vote with their wallets. And this is the only thing that matters.

I think Al Gore has convinced Ford that V8s are bad...and as disappointing as the Raptor news is, the GT getting a v6 is the biggest let down of all. I applaud the "efficiency" efforts, that's great, but make your flagship performance vehicles with an efficient V8 platform the company has been known for over the past decade.

There's no reason Ford couldn't put a supercharger on a v8 and keep costs within reason to current MSRP. I'd expect no more than $5,000 if Ford had offered a supercharger option to the current 6.2. If Roush and Whipple can offer kits around the $7000 range, Ford could do the same for less.

Chevy and Dodge are both supercharging their highest performing V8/V10 for the foreseeable future... and Ford regresses to a v6 platform...

I'm just glad I got in when the 6.2 was available. I don't plan on running errands in a soccer mom v6 raptor.

All things equal...forced induction...a supercharged 6.2 is going to beat the hell out of any (v6) ecoboost on the road today, 2017, 3017, and beyond lol[/QUOTE

ford needs to take the technology they put in the ecoboost v6 and apply it to a brand new design v8 ditch the old 2v sohc dinosaur 6.2. but yes all things equal a v8 with the same technology as the v6 ecoboost would leave it in the dust unfortunately I don't believe ford has a v8 that utilizes direct injection and higher compression or do they??? I heard they are supposed ditch the 5.0 and 5.8 in favor of a 5.2??? I wonder if that has direct injection

And don't get me wrong, the v6 ecoboost has its place and is a good OPTION in the overall Ford product lineup. It really is a great engine for what it is. But it just does not belong in the Raptor or GT models.
