I really hope the v6 450hp crap is just Ford's smoke and mirrors to relax the competition, and the REAL production harbors a V8 forced-induction 500hp platform, capable of an additional 100-200hp by bolt-on mods.

Otherwise, Whipple that 6.2 to get your ~700hp and call it a day.

If youve owned 3 built wranglers and actually used it for its purpose or went on any Jeep/offroad runs you should know darn well a 4cy, I6, v8, etc have all been proven reliable and useful in an offroad setting.

Sorry if Im coming off as a '*********' because I dont buy into the 'v8 or nothing **********' going on around here but thats just my opinion. Not every prerunner, offroad vehicle, or heavy use vehicle is a v8 simple as that.

Throw the right reliability, engineering, hp/tq, and driver into an offroad vehicle and you can tackle a lot of gnarly shit no matter what the engine choice is. Im a firm believer that technology is a replacement for displacement and that the ttv6 does not neuter the Raptor one bit.

Sorry I do not agree with you.

Technology, superchargers, turbochargers, direct injection, etc., none of these are a replacement for displacement, they are at most displacement simulators, all of these things can be added to any displacement engine, the total maximum power an engine can make is determined by it's block and displacement, adding any of the things mentioned just gets it closer to that theoretical maximum output

Just my .2 cents.. Were all bitching about the new EB motor replacing the V8.. but lets be honest. Who the **** wouldn't buy the new raptor even with that motor. Im a hard core V8 guy myself and the EB wouldn't stop me from buying it. You can always do an engine swap with something sexier.. end rant. start complaints.

Not a complaint, just stating it's going to be much easier to do a suspension swap to put the new suspension on the old raptor than to do an engine swap and put the old engine into the new raptor

Its gutless because it isnt geared correctly. Stock wrangler tire size is 27.7" tall and this wrangler is running 33" tires which is a huge difference for such a small motor. Can this rig get up the trail and crawl just fine? Yes but its power on the highway is something to be desired.

Properly built wranglers can do plenty Raptors cant do and Raptors can do plenty that wranglers cannot do, it all depends on what your purpose is.

im glad ford is not carrying on the 6.2 in the raptor this engine leaves a lot to be desired. I mean besides cubic inches really isnt something I would gawk over. My father has an fx4 with the ecoboost and that thing is a blast to smash around honestly my only complaint with my truck is that it doesn't have the ecoboost. Ha and I'm a v8 or die kind of guy. Something about that instant almost silent torque that puts a smile on my face. My raptor is so loud sometimes in embarrassed to step on it lots of noise and no go. Even with tuner intake and exhaust sucks always staring at the tailgate of that ecoboost fx4 :)

All things equal...forced induction...a supercharged 6.2 is going to beat the hell out of any (v6) ecoboost on the road today, 2017, 3017, and beyond lol

I can't wait. The 2017 raptor will be fast ... more hp and torque and 500 pounds lighter. And I think the 10-speed transmission will result in less gear hunting which the current Raptor seems to do quite a bit. I know I know a tune will fix the current raptor but it seems the 2017 Raptor will come with a factory tune >> "The six preset modes for the Raptor include Normal for everyday use; Street for high performance; Weather for slippery roads; Mud and Sand for muddy and sandy off-roading; Baja for high-speed desert; and Rock Mode for low-speed rock crawling"

I think a lot of EB haters will be pleasantly surprised. And if not they can buy the Dodge Rebel. :)

Thanks be to the 707HP Dodge Hellcat, reports are that 770HP V10 engines are in the works for the next model Viper. If Dodge ever builds another Viper truck...or even better, a Viper Ram Runner package...well now, I wouldn't want to pull up beside that with a ecoboost emblem on my door lol

I guess if you have a lot of money you can buy anything. BUT do you really want the Raptor to be in the 80K ... 90K range? I for one do NOT. I am sure Ford can produce a V8 supercharged/TT putting out 700+ HP if they wanted to but they would not have many customers. How many Hell Cats do you think Dodge sells?

There are numerous options for the challenger...hellcat being the top of the line. I would agree that engine options would be cool and could appeal to a wider audience. Offer the v6 and the v8.
