Do you recommend that I open a case with Ford Customer Service before it's even seen by the dealer?
@FordTechOne and sorry to be annoying with multiple posts, but how do I go about requesting a Ford Field Engineer? Any suggestions or just call ford customer service?
Wow. Sorry to hear that but happy you’ll be in a new Raptor soon!My power train malfunction could not be figured out on my 2017 by the dealer even with ford engineering help.. asked ford for a buy back and they approved it..it was 4 attempts and like 40 days in the shop. Turning it in this coming week then shopping for a 2020
I got the truck back and the dealer found a loose ground which was causing a communication error and causing the systems to shut down. I was a little skeptical, but to be fair, I did dry fit an Up Down Air controller a week earlier and it's possible I overtightened a ground screw and unknowingly stripped it. It's hard to believe I wouldn't notice that when doing it or when checking the grounds later, but it's possible and makes sense. I also haven't had an issue since I picked it up.
It looks like this one is on me and not the truck. They used oversized self tapping screws instead of rethreading, which I thought was weird, but whatever. Either way, I'm glad it's fixed, but I feel like an idiot that it was something so simple and I may have caused it.
@Booth9999 good call on the diagnosis. I appreciate all the help from everyone.
