Enjoyed the video. My 2019 Raptor just turned over 5k and although it has dual tensioners I think changing the oil every 5k might be a great idea. Can’t hurt that’s for sure. Thx

Except he is saying that the phaser issue is due to a worn timing chain which is incorrect.

The cam phaser issue is separate and aside from chain stretch which causes cam phasing issues, so this is not incorrect, just another cam phasing problem.

I changed 1st oil at 500 mi, 2nd at 1500 mi, 3rd at 3000 mi, 4th at 5000 mi....currently at 6400 mi and will be changing at every 4500 mi. I had 4 gens of F150s since 2000 and never experienced cam phaser or any other engines issues.

I was a little concerned when I saw the recommended interval went from 5k for Gen1 to 10k for Gen2. I have only changed the oil twice and ODO is rolling up on 28K. I think I will start doing every 5k from here on out.

I do use Red Line synthetic as most of the other supposedly synthetics in my opinion are not to the same level. Mobil 1 is pure junk. I guess I am biased but having been involved in Nitro Drag bike racing and NASCAR the only lubricants used were Red Line on everything, grease, trans oil, diff lube, and motor oil.

Before everyone runs in the same direction please pay attention to EVERYTHING the guy said. 1st...I haven't researched when it started but I know my 19 is dual injected not just direct injected so he's talking about a different engine than mine. 2nd. they added a second tension er in the 18 so again different from what he was working on and 3rd. The Raptor version of the 3.5 ecoboost is the high output version and is beefed up over the normal 3.5. I can't conclude anything from this video for my specific truck other than to reinforce my decision to go full syn and 5k intervals....which btw Ford also recommends depending on how you use your truck.

“Mobile 1 is pure junk”. What makes you believe that?

Hey Doc, thanks for posting. My dealer uses a synthetic blend, but I change every 5000, so I think I'm good.
