So who buys these tailgates? I mean someone steals mine, then I go on craigslist and buy it back? Is it like a never-ending story games, but with stealing tailgates, where guys are buying stolen tailgates off the internet, to replace their stolen one....

I think a more professional thief stays away from the web and goes thru some type of underground network to get it back into circulation.

Unscrupulous auto repair shops might back black market tailgates for couple hundred bucks and pocket the left over insurance money..

Junk yards also. Its a shame we all work hard for our money and have a nice truck and have to worry about pieces being stolen from it.

I had a mustang 5.0 years ago and both side view mirrors got stolen, twice. The order goes out and they search the streets for what they want. I now have a garage which limits the exposure to the outside world.

just watched how easy it was to remove the tail gate and i immediately ordered the master lock one off of amazon for less than 14 bucks. truck is being built on 12/17!
