after reading this thread I went out and locked my tailgate. I'll have to look into a lock like the ones mentioned here also.

Even though it was sort of a pain to wire it up.. Popnlock was well worth the money and effort. Every time the doors are locked the tailgate is too.

I have had the Pace Edwards equivalent for about a month. I need to install it. It doesn't sound like that's 100% protection either. How bad was the wiring on it? I read the instructions and it sounds like running the wires from the tailgate to the front is okay, but getting the wires through the firewall and in to the right harness is hard.

Btw, that McGard lock gets some questionable reviews on Amazon. People find the lock on the ground and their tailgate missing, etc.

You run it through frame to under the car. Then there is a rubber grommet that goes into the passenger door sill.. It is not bad, just finding the right wires sucked. One of FRF fine members did a write up showing correct wires..

I don't think anything exists that will provide complete protection, whether we are talking just about the tailgate or the truck as a whole. If the bastards really want it they will find a way. At least by adding a McGard or something similar you will slow them down and make it more difficult.
