i have the best insurance of all. i don't live in the hood and i have a garage.

Agree. However, not really concerned about something happening while at home (short of the fact that my neighbor to the right is state trooper and to left army special forces). Think a mcgard or something similar is cheap insurance to an annoying potential problem.

So who buys these tailgates? I mean someone steals mine, then I go on craigslist and buy it back? Is it like a never-ending story games, but with stealing tailgates, where guys are buying stolen tailgates off the internet, to replace their stolen one....

Usually it is the guy with a company truck, that bashes in the tailgate.

Cruises the local home improvement store..

Snags a new tailgate.

Stays out of trouble with the company..

White trucks are the most targeted because most company trucks are white, then red..

I installed a McGuard on my tailgate. You need to keep it tight against the tailgate side and really crank down on it. If you do that it will certainly slow someone down at least. It is way more difficult to remove than just lifting it out which you can do with no lock in place.
