See I was thinking of just getting the X4 because the tunes are all the same and then just get this, does what you want. The app is only $10.
Bluetooth or WiFi OBDII Connector - CravenSpeed Online

I got my connector yesterday. I ordered the wifi version to use with my iPad or iPhone. I'm having some difficulties because it connects and works for a little while (30 seconds to a minute or two) and then the screen freezes, like if it lost the connection. Tried both my iPhone 5S and my iPad Air. Not sure what's causing it. I'll need to troubleshoot a bit more and return or exchange it if I can't get it to work.

For the little time it does work, it's awesome. The amount of information available on Dash Commander is impressive. If I can get this to work in definitely putting a semi-permanent solution in the car.

Additional thoughts after a couple of days: I'm really liking the perf-soft tune. No jerkiness whatsoever, transitions between shifts are smooth as silk. I stepped on it today a bit, and it's amazing how fast you run out of road before you have to slow down. But it shifted under WOT very smoothly. The 87 perf-soft tune is my leading candidate for my "permanent" tune. I like filling up with the cheap gas. I'm going to be trying the two 93 tunes (perf and perf-soft), but unless they blow me away I think I'm sticking with 87 perf-soft.

To me the 87 perf felt "jerky". I was told this is while the truck "learns" the new tune, but the 87 perf soft did not feel jerky to me. That's why in another thread I was asking what "firmer" shifting felt like, because to me it just feels jerky and unnatural. I prefer my shifting to be smooth to the point of almost not being noticeable.

I still don't understand why this "faster" or "firmer" shifting would be preferred. Perhaps my driving style is not aggressive enough to appreciate it. But to me shifting should be smooth and the car should move from shift to shift with as little hesitation as possible.

I have run my 87eco tune for a while now and like it the best for my day to day the performance tunes are cool but not for day to day. I did run stock for a few days last week and it was smother, the one thing I have not seen with any tune yet is the increase in fuel milage that is more then a point higher. Fuel milage is not why I bought the tuner/tunes but it would be nice to see a bigger improvement on the highway as I spend a lot of time traveling

On my brain
I have seen decrease in fuel mileage on some tunes. No significant improvement. The best tune is SCT canned tune IMO.

Trying the SVC and loving it. Not enough seat time for a responsible opinion though.

That's how my tune is. To me, a tune shouldn't be something "night and day" (if that's even possible). It should be subtle differences that clean up the stock tune and make improvements where necessary. Mine isn't noticeable unless you look for it. It downshifts quicker, but you wouldn't notice unless I pointed it out, and the shifting is slightly firmer, but more-so just quicker. Driving it around town, you'd never know it was tuned, and to me, that's perfect.

I don't know who SVC used for their tune (other than I know it wasn't my tuner), but who they are using has the same philosophy as my tuner. I am extremely pleased with how mine drives and I have a feeling from how you and others (and SVC) are talking, that their tune is going to be very similar and is going to be a great tune. Some people might be skeptical about the "one tune for all octanes" thing, but I ran my tuners "SHP 475" tune at TRR on 91 pump gas the entire time and had no knocking or anything so it's definitely possible.

I think it's one tune for all octanes, but you do need to specify an octane in the options before you write the tune and fill up accordingly. No? Like the SCT tune, it's only one tune but before you program, you need to set some options and one is octane.

I loaded the 93 performance tune.

Ok, I get it now.

It's one of those things I had to experience myself to understand. I won't be keeping this tune loaded, because I personally don't like it. But its a personal preference thing.

I now understand the "wakes up the truck" comments. If the truck was an animal, I'd say it overdosed on coffee beans and it's "fidgety". I'd use words as "restless", "aggressive", "chomping at the bit". I was spinning the rear tires at every light without even trying. It surged a lot. I probably need to drive it a bit more to let it "learn", but it's just not something I think I will like long term. It doesn't go into 6th gear when I'm cruising at low speeds. It likes to hang on to lower gears longer.

None of this is "bad". I'm just 46 years old and I've gotten the drag racing bug out of my system many moons ago. This is just not what I want for my truck. But I can see why so many people like it and rave so much about it. It's actually a lot of fun to drive for a little bit, but as a daily driver it would bug me. I'm more of a soft ride kinda guy.

I'm trying the 93 performance soft after this, which if it shifts like the 87 perf soft I think I will like it. Need to see the mpgs to see which one I will settle on.
