I would suggest to keep all your senses in tune with the trucks behavior. Let it empty until only fumes remain then refill with premium and switch to the 5star 93perf tune. Just for the heck of it.

My second thought (day two)

Today I drove it more "spiritedly". Meaning I stepped on it. A lot. First thing is you can forget any MPG reports. The number dropped like whale dung at the bottom of the ocean. I'll test that later.

What I did notice was what could be described as "harsher" shifting. To me it seemed like skipping or hesitation, but if was very brief, and subtle. And it only happens at wide open throttle (when I'm on the gas hard). During "normal" driving it's fine.

Could this be what people refer to as "harsher" shifting? What is causing this "skipping"?

I loaded up my 87 performance soft tune and will see if if makes any difference.

They take a while to adapt. The harshness will smooth out in time. I am curious about a 93perf "soft" tune.

I just now PMed Chris @ Freedom Motorsports and he replied with the same thing. I'm learning as I go so thanks for the help!

At this rate it will be a while before I get to the 93 perf tunes. I need to drive this one a little while and refill the tank with 93 octane, so if I can be patient if will be a couple of weeks. If I can be patient. :burnout:

I ran the 87 Performance out of the box. I didn't experience or feel a big difference, but I could tell there was more to be had on the 93. That day, I drove the remaining 100 miles out of the tank. Filled up with 93 and loaded the 5 Star 93 Performance tune.

There was a noticeable improvement of the "driveability" on the 93 tune over the 87 tune, which made me very satisfied...for what the truck is capable of. Even if the 0-60 wasn't improved on 93 (although it was slightly), the 93 tune was worth it to me. The shifts are firmer, better mpg, and throttle response is a huge improvement.

Keep in mind, that I've owned several supercharged Cobras, ACR Vipers, and 9 second quarter mile motorcycles. Therefore, my "performance" expectations of any truck would be laughable...afterall, many stock sports cars and motorcycles would still be faster on the street than a 1000 HP Raptor. Don't get me wrong, the Raptor is one badass vehicle and one of the...no, make that...THE best, overall driving vehicle that I've ever had. But, it is a heavy truck, not purpose built for on road...and any high expectations on the street, they're going to be in for many light-to-light disappointments no matter how much power they have.

So just let the guy in the vette pull up beside you at the light, give YOU a thumbs up...and then let him roll on. With or without a tune...you already proved what you needed to, before the light even turned green.

This is not helping my patience in keeping my 87 tune. I suspect my next tankful will be 93...

Bear in mind that the raptor is actually rated 401hp with 87. But if you look at the fine print the claimed 411hp is only when using premium fuel so without even a tune, you already gain 10hp.

One suggestion. Half tank on 87perf, kill it to the fumes on the 87perf "soft edition" then switch to 93perf all out tune half tank then other half of 93oct fuel on the SCT 93oct canned tuned. That is a good way I KNOW you will be able to tell a difference. Come on, this is the "good kind" of peer pressure. No harm done and it is a fun experiment. Hehehe.
