I think you'd have to look at percentages. They sold a lot more gen 2's in the first couple model years than gen 1's.

My gen 1 (2012) had both a leak (I think aux cooler maybe?) and the AC outlet broken very early in ownership and then nothing after that. My gen 2 2017) had both the iwe and the passenger front fender flare replaced and other than an update to the transmission program no problems. Gen 1 & 2 are about the same with my personal experiences.

I think the funniest part of this thread is someone assuming they'll have less issues with an FCA product than with a Ford. Just make sure to get an extended warranty.

I would agree with the extended warranty but not with Jake's choice in a trade. Definitely a downgrade.

I would agree with always having a warranty on an ecoboost. It just makes sense. The only downside is can one live with their truck being in the service department for weeks at a time, multiple times?

I’m on my 3rd Gen 2 no major issues. They hold their value so well, I keep trading in for a new one every year once I hit 30k miles.
