There are plenty of threads about invoice pricing and which dealers do invoice. Do your homework and search.
There are 3 charges that most buyers don't take into account:
1 - destination and delivery from Detroit to your dealership ... for a 2015, it runs $1195
2 - full tank of gas .. yes the full tank is not free. Ford makes you pay. And this fee depends on current gas prices. In 2013 on my super-crew, I paid $128
3 - ADV or advertising fee. Yes Ford makes you pay of their advertising fee. In 2013, I paid $780. Can this be negotiated? The simple answer is NO. Mother Ford charges your dealership and your dealership charges you. And if you are able to negotiate this down, then it means your dealership just turns around and takes it out on your trade.
I felt the need to clarify that those fees ARE part of the invoice price. There's three prices in play...dealer cost, invoice price, and MSRP. You will typically never negotiate against dealer cost because that's where the dealer would lose money. You're usually negotiating between invoice and MSRP. If the dealer says they'll charge you invoice PLUS destination, fuel, and ADV then they're being dishonest as those prices are already reflected in the invoice price if you ever actually get to look at a vehicle order printout showing line item costs. I got charged maybe $300 over invoice and it damn sure wasn't $300 plus destination, fuel, and ADV. Also, the ADV fee is kind of BS. The dealer already makes a profit at invoice and why else would so many dealerships not list ADV or only use it as a negotiating tactic to make it look like they did you a favor by lowering or eliminating it.
I had no trade-in, so there's absolutely NO possibility that my dealer simply pulled the wool over my eyes and diminished my trade-in to make it seem like they magically lowered the price on my Raptor. Invoice is invoice. Anything else is just salesman BS.
For further info about BS fees etc., research what dealer holdback is.
