GEN 2 Current tundra owner looking for change

The tech can get pretty nice but the price jumps significantly as a lot of it is grouped into the 802A package. Collision warning, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise, heated/cooled seats, customizable instrument cluster, 360 camera, Android/CarPlay.

The regular 2018 F150's are receiving the fully adaptive cruise control where the truck can come to a full stop on its own, but for the Raptor it won't be available next year.

Non 802a's still have Sync3 which I think is a solid product that makes keeping eyes on the road a priority.

OP, I went Nissan -> Toyota -> Chevy -> Ford.

So far, I've been happiest with the Raptor.

Traded in my 2008 TRD tundra 5.7l...awesome truck and the acceleration was awesome... My 17 raptor on the other hand is let's just say better! Go for it!

This my first Raptor and 2nd Ecoboost F150. Great motor, zero issues, no stories.

Don't get fooled by the fun ecoboost power. While it is fun, it has a very high risk for problems. It is a frustrating engine to own - just forewarning you.

If you can drive a Gen 2 Raptor do it! You will like. I ordered mine and paid for it and had not even seen it! Good luck on what ever you chose, just buy what you want and not what someone else wants. Last but not least, take Sasquatach77 with a grain of salt. He does not have a new Raptor, but he knows more about them than the people who designed the truck. I got mine in January and have 5500 miles on it, over 1300 miles are off road! Wife and kids flat out Love it! Wife's car is a BMW, and she Loves my truck. Good Luck.

You can see our resident troll, sasquatch77 is in here trying to dissuade you. You can easily see by his/her post history and history of “likes” what type of person this is(n’t).

The 2017 Raptor has been well received by the owners. As with any forum, you will see an overrepresentation of the negative experiences herein, and you should definitely acquaint yourself with some of the issues that have been encountered in the field. We’ve seen -I think 3? engine replacements, 2 or 3 of the new 10 speed transmissions, a couple of blow off valve issues, transmission pan gasket issues - I’m thinking we’ve crossed into double digits on those - 10, maybe a dozen reported here... Out of how many thousand sold?

There are some threads on what to look for at pickup. Test drive the cr@p out of it. 6pack is right, the test drive will probably sell the truck.

Good luck making your decision [ but realistically, if you’re here, asking the questions you are, we probably don’t have to do much to convince you ]

I love my raptor and so far no issues. Kept my Nissan Frontier as a work / dog truck for now and the Raptor is more of a daily driver.....can't believe how smooth down the road and I never dodge pot holes, speed bumps or curbs.....if I ever go back to a car I will be in big trouble.

You know what's frustrating? Averaging 12 mpg and getting your doors blown off by minivans. Life comes at you fast bud, gotta adapt or die.
