Careful with the diesel oils in direct injection turbo engines. Lubrication is fine, but the higher calcium content for the required diesel “cleaning” effects cause emulsion around the piston tops and will result in low speed pre-ignition (LSPI) and detonation that can destroy pistons, rods, and rod bearings. There is lots of relatively new information on the oils that have lower calcium to prevent LSPI.
I ran the Rotella T6 in one (DI turbo) and it detonated into junk in about 2 seconds when it happened.

Are you guys for real? What is wrong with Mobile 1? If it can keep race cars together on endurance circuits...

Curious as well.....but the that specific oil appears to be specific to Diesel engines and states that on the bottle.

They have a separate oil for light trucks (based on quick review of the website).
#8521 and #8531 (5w-20 and 5w30 respectively).
This one specifically. Marketeering requires they write specific things seen on the bottle

Mobil one. Nothing wrong. This is a better oil with good zinc. API specs force less than quality oils these days

Questions for the experts. My wife has a 2018 Lariat with the 3.5L EB. Only on a cold start, it has a loud rattle for about 1.5 secs then stops. Other than the rattle on start up, it drives fine and I don't detect any other issues. I am pretty sure it is an issue with the cam phasers. SO ... My dealership wants it to diagnose and agreed with me it sounds like the cam phasers. They told me they have another truck in the shop now for the same issue.

It is bad timing right now to lose the truck for god knows how many weeks as the service manager tells me they will fix it if he can order parts. School is letting out this week and my wife has some events out of town with my son.

What happens if she continues to drive it for another 4-5 weeks?

Question for RMB, do you have a lot ecoboots run this oil. .? I would be Leary of a diesel oil. And 40wt. How do you feel about their 5-30. I assume you don't like the specs?

Drive it, no damage will accrue that won’t be fixed when they do the phasers.

agreed, I've seen some guys run 60k with the rattle with no apparent issue. From what I've pieced together, unless you get a CEL, it really isn't a problem outside of sounding like crap.
