Guys I'm out in Ocotillo Wells in the Desert and mobile service is horrible so I will get back with this on Wednesday when I don't drop service every few minutes, and can spend some time to read through it all. We will get you some answers to your questions.

Greg. Your leafs are sacked out. They need to be rearched and the pogoing will stop.

There is no such thing as a shock with an internal bump stop. Valving can be adjusted to help slow up travel as the axle approaches its limits acting like a bumpstop. This applies to all external bypass shocks.

There is a reason ford and fox designed the raptor shocks the way they did. It's for 90% of the raptor owners out there. Works great Offroad and they last a long time.

Imagine the warranty work ford would have todo if everyone was bringing their shocks in for rebuilds every 15k miles.

If you upgrade to 3.0s expect more maintenance. And weigh it into your decision. I've said it a million times. These trucks work great stock. Take the money and do driving lessons. You will get way more bang for your buck.

I say go for it if you like modding mod away. just to let the newbies know The stock raptor is all their for the weekend warrior. like a race car you would not get in it and drive as fast as the car could go the first time out. you have to be going over some pretty weird jumps to get the raptor to bend and if you do it sound like it is fixable any how. I would suggest jumping a table top first.

what the hell am I talking about this is Gregs build and has nothing to do with what you can do with a stock raptor verses a modded one. have fun

And you have been absolutely correct on your advice Trey. And stock Raptor is perfectly capable in stock for 90% of Raptor owners. And the more you improve the stock Raptor, the more you start chasing the next weakest link.

If anything comes out of this thread and my ever changing build. FRF members will know what works and what doesn't. And hopefully saves someone from spending good money on mods, only to remove it.

And as far as leaf springs being sacked out, it is a very good possibility. After the hell I have put these springs and truck through, it wouldn't surprise me. That brings up a good point, should the National Springs be sacked after less than 12,000 miles?

I know it has been a hard 12,000 miles, what does this mean for other owners? Are they going to have the same issue in 15 or 20k?

It's hard to say. Each set of springs from either national or deaver is going to be different. They are literally made on an anvil by a guy with a BFHammer. There is little science behind springs.

My deavers are supposed to carry 600
Lbs of bed weight but they don't.

These springs get sacked out all the time. Under varying circumstances all the time. Nature of the beast.

A little update...

After driving around and adjusting the ICON shocks for the best (stock) on road settings.

I was starting to get frustrated because the rear was rebounding bad, no matter how I adjusted the ICON shocks.. Then in a ah ha moment I realized the aftermarket bump stops were only 1.5" to 2" above axle. So the axle would come into contact with the bump stops during normal driving and not allowing the ICON shocks to dampen the axle.

Sorry to ask, but did you change the delrin tips to the shorter pads?

The Icons do have an internal bump system. The main piston is a 3.0 that does the majority of the dampening. However, they have added an additional smaller piston to the top of it, so when the shock enters its last few inches of travel, the smaller piston enters a smaller cylinder at the top of the shock that is valved extremely stiff. This in turn slows the shock, prevents bottoming and acts as the internal bump stop.
