I think the 2014 F-150 is lacking features due to its four year old design (2009). I suspect the next iteration of the F-150 will receive all of the expected technology items which are missing from the current generation. When I selected the F-150 I knew I was going to giving up the latest technology and receiving a Playskool-quality interior versus the competition. It would have been more desirable to not feel the need to compromise, however.

Honestly I dont think thats the reason as Dodge has been adding all the goodies to their truck and its not a new model.
My brothers new truck has the louvers behind the grill that close to make the truck more aerodynamic, it also hunkers down like a lowrider on the highway and raises back up for 4X4 mode, along with an 8 speed it get amazing fuel economy.

Just thinking out loud here, but I think the reason they don't have the automatic keyless entry and the pushbutton start is because they have the combination pad instead.

My wife has those features on her car. It is very convenient, but the thing is if you lock the key in the car it just beeps at you and won't lock. Makes sense right? You need the key to unlock, and if you leave it in the car in theory anybody who gets in just by touching the door can start the car and drive away. They don't even need to find the key.

With the combination pad, one of the things I really like about it is that if I'm playing sports or otherwise worried about losing my keys, I CAN just lock them in the truck. If it was automatic keyless entry and push button start it's probably not such a good idea to be locking them in the car with the combo, since the next guy to come along can just touch the door and drive off.

Given the choice between the 2 I'll take the combo pad. I can lock crap in the car in relative safety, and I can unlock/lock the door even with gloves on, don't have to dig through pockets for my keys.

I don't know about fords keyless start but on my wifes car it has a fallback mode where if the remote batter is dead she can hold the key over the start button and it uses passive RFID to authenticate and it will start.

I think the keypad thing looks very dated and kinda embarrassing for a new truck.

ok ^
off road dust dirt and electrical connections hmmm. There is a reason I pick ford over the other's for farm use. The problem is there is getting to be more money in making it town. Don't get me wrong I like luxury but if it's not going to work in 6 month's why bother with it.

Actually Willson you do bring up a good point, the sensor for the auto unlock can get fouled up with dust, dirt and salt, but there is a simple solution and thats treat it with SONAX polymer net shield and all is good, seems it keeps them from building up with contaminants.

I used to think the same thing, but the 2013 Taurus SHO has all of these fancy features (push button start, keyless combination pad, fob never has to come pocket, messaging-heated/cool seats). I'm sure we'll start seeing these features in the F150s very soon.
